Oh I totally agree with you that it's crazy competitive, but that's what i like.
Believe me. I play slow pitch tournaments all the time. I love them, but my favorite thing to do is hit an 85 mph screwball 150 feet. It's gratifying and it's like being king for a day when you do well at those tournaments. The team I used to be on was terrible, we got beat all the time like you guys, you just need to come back and get better. That's when it gets to be a lot of fun. The learning curve is about 2 to 3 tournaments if you're not retarded. Now, I'm not saying I'm winning all the tournaments we're playing, the team I'm on now is mediocre at best, but we do win our fair share of games and have beaten big teams.
I love both styles, and I don't detract from the slow pitch. I just don't like it when people bash it for no reason, i.e. "oh that's just a gay way to play." at least there was a sound reason behind your argument.
The short and long of it is that the East Coast takes wiffs WAY more seriously than the left coast. I wish it were different sometimes.

I get both styles. Having fun is the main thing and some of the guys at tourneys can get crazy, but sometimes competive streaks can get the best of you. You want to do well and not look like a dumbass playing WIFFLEBALL, but in the end who cares I guess...just play. I've never played in those slow pitch games. I've always wondered how they regulate that [keeping the speeds down], someone tell me. That East Coast thing is true. Is it because Wiffleball started on the East Coast? Is that why it's bigger there? California's a big big baseball state so I would think we'd big the top wiffle state but NJ seems to be. Are we to layed back here?

The slow pitch is so much fun. It's more of a gentleman's game. Most tournaments, you can only throw as hard as the other guy, and people will tell you to throttle back if you're really chucking. But if you play WiffleUp, they bring a gun around to make sure you're not topping out over 35 or whatever the speed is. Don't know what the deal is with why it's more competitive, but it just is, so I've gotten used to it. I think there's a feeling of ownership, since this stuff has been going seriously around here before the internet was around, allowing them to get the word out.
