Send It! The FWL needs to compare talents this year to see if we actually have any or if we are just fooling ourselves. Let's do this.          Solano (formely Cole, formely Harvard formely Steamers) Sea Captains

MORE TOURNEY NEWS.  WHEN SHOULD THE F.W.L GO?

Gentleman,

Here is the schedule for the Nor Cal Fast Plastic Region for 2006, also the first minor league date is set.

April 1st, (tryouts, practice, fun, etc, come on out, bring the kids) I will have 1 to 2 fields set up that day, depending on turnout.

2006 Season FP Schedule

NCQ #1 Sat April 15th
NCQ #2 Sat May 6th
NCQ #3 Sat June 10th
NCQ #4 Sat July 9th
NCQ #5 Sat Aug 6th
Playoffs (top 4 teams in the region get the invite) Sat Aug 26th

I'm expecting to be able to pay out $1000-$1500 at the end of NCQ#5 for the top 3 finishing teams for the season, it will be spread accordingly. If we have big turnouts, I will pay out at the end of each NCQ, so (TBD). This looks promising and that would be ideal to pay out at the end of each NCQ! There also will be a bonus $$ prize for the top two teams in the major division at the end of the playoffs, to help alleviate the cost to fly to the National Championship. Looks like it will be somewhere different than Austin, TX this year.

The following is a list of team getting ready to play season:

1.     Golden State Wifflers

2.     California Connection

3.     Chico Bamboos

4.     Beastie Broz

5.     Lastcut.com Comebacks-Ted B

6.     Creek Mob-Pedro

7.     Mike Kopp

8.     Brady C

     9.Neal,Jon Regan,Mike Horner

Ok, Minors...... We now have 3 teams, and we only need one more. I will be there during the tourneys, so if a team needs to pick up one player i will be there, so if there a two man team out there, dont be shy. But for you less experienced players this is a great chance to get involved and get better at the game.

Minor League NCQ#1 will be March 18th, with weather permitting, and participation of teams. Entry fee is only $50.

Minor League Teams-

Bayside Bombers
Jeff Lees 2nd team
Farhad B Team

Please call me if you have any questions. In the meantime please visit www.fastplastic.net for the rules and details etc...

Fell free to also send me your team please!!!!!!

I'm warning you guys: FastPlastic is way more serious than you're used to. A FP guy plays (played?) in our league and not only does he throw hard, but he's a little serious for us, especially for you guys.

Just a warning. Wink

Click here: http://www.fastplastic.net/2006rules.htm#GeneralRules to check out the rules.  Looks like we need to play in two qualifiers to be eligible to move on to the National portion.  We just need to figure out who's goin' and when.

We need a team name.  Something with Fresno in it.  Start suggesting!

If you are going to suggest a top notch name as that ATL you might have to travel across the country to be a mother fucker and play with us!

I was completely unaware that you had to be from Modesto to understand what "real" wiffleball was. I guess that means that the FWL will have to make the roadtrip to get our "education" because it seems we have been fooling ourselves playing "fake" wiffleball all these years. Can't wait to see you up there Modesto!

I've got our name: the FRESNO FICE - I think it's pretty solid, any other sugestions?  But look at it: FRESNO FICE

When will the Fices (or whatever) play?  Well, the April date is out.  I also don't think the May date would be good.  Lance will be just finishing up with some testing and we will probably only have a couple Gamedays under our belt.  I think the June 10th and the July 9th dates are what we need to plan on.  Then we can still have the August date as a back-up.

I knew there was a reason you were the commisioner of the FWL. It's instances such as when the word FICE is used that I have complete confidence in your ability to market the FWL to everyone. Those dates are probably the best for me as well. beacause April and May I have shit going on and by the summer Jen will be out of school and that should work perfect. Let me know on what you need from me. Also, who is teaming with us and how many are on a team? I am expecting at least you, me, Lance and Bells but how many to a team? Do we need to pull Los out of retirement or what? Give me all you got!!!!!!   Later Solano

Well Solano, Here are the official FP rules regarding teams:

1. Teams consist between two (2) and five (5) players. Roster changes may be made up to the first pitch of the regional tournaments.

2. A maximum of three (3) players may take the field for defense but a team may choose to bat a maximum of five (5) players. The pitcher and all fielders must bat. If a starting player is unable to continue playing and his team does not have a non-starter to take his place, his turn at bat will be considered an out. The batting order will not change during the game. Batting out of order will result in an out (standard MLB rule).

3. All starting players may change positions at any time defensively, however once a player is substituted by a non-starter, the starter is out of the game and cannot re-enter. (Also see Section V, Rule 3.)

4. Teams may play in more than one (1) region but only on one (1) team per region.

5.  NO Split Squads are allowed. A Split Squad is defined as two or more groups of players from different locations playing under the same team name with little or no effort of playing together as a true team in an attempt to take advantage of the Fast Plastic regional locations. This will be seen as an attempt to circumvent the Fast Plastic style of play and will not be tolerated. Any team caught under this rule will lose any points, FP3 and/or regional, and will be subject to expulsion. Fast Plastic will handle any infractions on a case by case basis.

6. Players may play for only one (1) official team for FP3 points and post season eligibility.
A player may play for another team for fun if he chooses. If this occurs this team will receive no FP3 points and the player will not qualify for any post season play with that team. Players choosing to play for fun with another teams must contact that Tournament Director before hand.

7. Players may become eligible and play for only one (1) team in the playoffs.

8. Players should consult their Regional Director for playoff eligibility requirements.

9.  Players must play in a minimum of two (2) Fast Plastic sanctioned qualifiers to be eligible for the National Championship Tournament.

10. Once a team has won a regional playoff they are no longer eligible for subsequent playoffs in other regions.

Well, then I guess we'll just have to see how we do! We are not exactly lobbing the damn ball up there.  I saw Team Trenton up close years ago and though VERY impressive not impossible to beat them.  All we can do is try and have fun, right Fresno!!!??
