Retirement Military ID cards

I’m not going to talk much in this one.

First a bit of a story and then the Questions.

When I was retired in 1977, I was called in and given a Retired Military ID card however I have not had it updated sense then.

Now the Questions:
(1)   Can one get them updated?
(2)   Where does one get them updated?
(3)   How does one go about getting it updated?

Looking for answers.
Thank you in

In London, the Base MP's or Commissioners have the ID Card kit / Camera / and Blanks for doing Reg Force / Militia /and Commissioners ID's.  Maybe they also do the Retired Members ID's?  Might also try calling the recruiting center?

Thanks Brian,
I tried them with no luck. DND tells me that I would have to contact DVA for that because I am no longer in the Army. I will try that tomorrow and let you guys know.

Well I Guess I should start by saying that it isn't called an ID card but rather a "Certificate Of Service - Certificat De Service". Well it sure looks like the old ID card but what the hay. This is what I found out when I contacted DND with the question.

Thank you for writing and visiting our Defence web site. Certificates of service may be obtained from the Directorate of Military Careers Administration & Resource Management of the Department of National Defence.  Please contact Mr. Dan Seary at (613) 996-7901 or send your request at the following mailing address at:

I phoned, left a message at Mr. Dan Seary office  (613) 996-7901 and sent an E-mail to Seary.DS@forces.gc.ca . My E-mail was answered in less then one hour with a phone call from Mr. Searys’ Office.
Yes this is where you get your "Certificate Of Service - Certificat De Service" (Military Retired ID Cards) updated. They take your information by phone and send you the application for a new ID card. You will need two photos Passport type (although she said that photo booth photos would do), dress to be suit or casual your choice, and the cost is $15.00 and they prefer it to be paid with a postal money order. To whom you would have to make the money order out to will come with the application.

Note: The only medals now entered on ID card are those that are lettered such as the CD, OMM, VC and others like them. UN, Peacekeeping and Special Services medals are no longer listed on you card.

Just about forgot. For those of you that wish to get VET licenses for their car, this ID card is supposed to do the trick as proof of service when applying for it.

No problem; I had so much trouble finding it for myself that I thought that it might help some others.
