I believe I know this gentleman as well – if it’s who I’m thinking, he was my section commander in London, and Norway 77. I’ll have to give this some more thought!

(?) Martin?
This drove me crazy; I took the dog for a walk, played in the garden, and all the names kept tumbling around and around…then bingo!
I could remember sitting in a tent on top of a mountain in Norway – I remember his smile, the way he talked…I could picture the face, but the elusive name kept slipping by. Sad how the mind plays with names, but faces are ingrained for every.
Even if I got the wrong guy, I still won [figuratively] in the fact of remembering another old soldier <smile>
Cheers,
Dave

To funny, I just received a load of soil – placed my mind in neutral and starting shoveling away…. Half way through my fifth or sixth wheelbarrow, just as the old back was starting to twinge, the name Bruce popped in! Had some good memories on top of that Norwegian mountain…plenty of good stories flew around the old Coleman <smile>!
Quick story: Took us all day to get our section and all our kit to the top of that mountain; near killed all of us. We spent about 4-days on the hill. On the way down, we were told to strap as much as we could into the toboggan, and ensure it was wrapped up tight. Martin was the wheelman at the back, and another and I were the donkeys in the harnesses. As we started down, Martin said…get out of the harnesses and take a break – but we just started…get out, you need a break…I’ll hold the toboggan. We no sooner stepped aside, and the toboggan, went flying past us, screaming down the side of the mountain; Dam it must have slipped…oh well, we get it at the bottom…follow-me! That was that; we all had a wonderful walk down… Good man in my books!
Cheers,
Dave

Faces I remember, but first names are not my forte <smile>. Again, the mind is funny that way. I remember the good times we had, but I was a private and he a MCpl…he called me Pte Brydon, or Dave when I wasn’t in trouble, and I called him MCpl :-o)
Cheers,
Dave
