Hi Corr Hope to find all is well with you and the wife. This picture brings back a lot of memories.I was on parade that day also and definately recognize John Martin as the Sgt. on the left and Bob Clarke as the Sgt. on the right. Also recognize a lot of faces but my memory and failing eyesight doesn,t allow me to name them.Take care Corr and God Bless. A ROYAL CANADIAN "NEVER PASSES A FAULT"
|
Anybody else got any pictures of the event? I like these era pictures as, relatively speaking, Im a bit younger then you guys. I served two tours in germany (Baden) and, when a Royal, had the chance to go on a Sunday afternoon tour of the damns, Soest and the surrounding area. A couple of the older fellows took us to the bars once frequented by, well, you guys! Pretty good time.

Starting from the left, the first officer is either Al Conyer or Jamie Arbuckle, the second one is me (as a brand new 2Lt) then there is Wally Stott (who was the 2i/c) and Phil Spenser (who was the Ops O). You can just see the legs of LCol Terry ?? (the CO) Great picture

Hello to all Royals. I was on that parade as well and LCol Lafferty, was the CO. Sgt John Martin, was my Platoon Sgt, ADP Platoon at the time. One year later I went AWOL, while in Amsterdam, planning my wedding. On my return to Fort York, I was awarded (14) days CB, as an advance wedding present. I completed (5) days of my CB, and LCol Lafferty, granted me leave to get married in Amsterdam, and cancelled the remainder of my CB, as a wedding present. I have never heard of this happening before or sense.
The wedding party: Aldore McIntyre, Ronny Mossop, Jack Meighs, Mike MeGrath, what a party it was. PS: We informed Sgt John Martin, that we were all going AWOL, to see this wedding through and he spoke to the Adjt, Capt Phil Spenser, and decided in our favour.
The Wedding date was June 26, 1965 - Amsterdam Holland. We are still together and just celebrated our 41st Anniverasry. Thanks to LCol Lafferty, Sgt John Martin and Capt Phil Spenser. our outcome was a success.
As a foot note: My CB, drill was given by none other than WO2 Buzz Griden, PI Morrison and I shed a few pounds while on the square learning some foot work. We never went AWOL after that.........Pro Patria.. Ernie Matchett
