Hi all,

I've been on here a bit so it's time to send this.
I joined the CF in January 1987 and went to Cornwallis. Off to the RCR Battle School in Pet after that. Posted to 1 RCR in August 87 to B Coy.....spent the week with the then sent to F coy for the Corps of Drums. Throught time in 1st BN, bounced around like everyone eventually serving in "Dukes", "Charles" and "Echo" coy's. Completed ISCC in 89 and promoted that May on Graduation parade....received SSF Soldier of the Year that July....Yes from the band:)

Left 1st BN in 92.....disapeared....found myself in 2nd BN in Aug 94. Did most of my time there in Pipes and Drums. I was in "Golf" coy for Bosnia tour then off to "India" stores 2ic. Promoted to Sgt in 2000 and posted as instructor to the Battle School in Meaford.

In 2002 I took my OT to Musician...posted to CFB Greenwood...imagine going from the infantry battle school to a musician in the airforce:)...I am now in CFB Shearwater.
So, I am now a Pipe Band Drum Instructor in the CF.
God was good to me.....I get paid very well to do my hobby.

Hey Joe, I was a piper for a bief spell in 3RCR. Did not get very good, unfortunately, as RSM Tomkin suggested my career would be better served on the line... Yes SIR!  Loved it, though, even though my chanter was plugged every time we played for real.

I got to say, I was good at the drones! Bwahahahahaaaaaa....

Lot of fun.... You were indeed lucky! Got the best of both worlds.

Mike.

Hi Joe

Welcome back home!! You know I spent a year with Sgt John Martin in the Corps Of Drums 1967 teaching music. I was always afraid of going to the Band because I had more to offer them and I didn't want to get stuck there. Well as luck would have it I left the band and the rest is history.

Hey Joe, how's it hangin' wearing blue?
I have an uncle in Shearwater (Dan / Dick Connors); he was with Pioneers with the first. We both LOTPED about '87. I went medic and he went AVN ( I'm startin' to beleive he got the better deal though LOL). He's been there ever since, and after a couple of years I went back to the "family" (the second) - as you know with good ol' Lima. I heard Pat E. married a teacher in HFX.

-glad to hear things are good with you.

Joe
Hope you enjoy Halifax as much as I did. I remember the good times we shared in the Cof D.
I have settled down in Kingston near Greenwood. What a great place.
If you find yourself down this way look me up.
