Sorry Jim, I tipped to many with my friend Paddy to forget his last name. I also remember in Cyprus in 66/67 he left the canteen at old camp Mapleleaf alone to go back to his barrack and he ended up in the low wire entanglement, that was the last time he walked back by himself at closing for the rest of his tour. Every night afterward he would pretend to fall asleep at the table had couple of us lead him to the quarters and as soon as we would walk in the barracks he would shake himself of and walk to his bed space. All you hear from him would Danka buddieee.

Hi Aldore
I used to play the guitar and sing for him all the way through Ipperwash and Germany. When I hear his name or see a pic of him, I think of him and me sitting on his bed after a night at the wet canteen, playing guitar. Not all my memories are nice....Pro Patria

Who could forget Paddy Page arguing with Thumper MacDonald for hours over 2 RCR and Mortar Platoon. That used to stop me from being bored when I was Canteen Cpl.

Rick your sure rattle my memory of canteen cpl and Thumper on my 1st night in Germany/1962 while at the canteen ordered a beer and said in french to my acadian friend ( what is the that guy frosting at mouth problem? ). Even Thumper could understand french acadian for awhile he wasn't to please/proud of french race. That when the canteen cpl had to step in to take control of the situation. Great memories.
