my name is ramona, my father richard (aka: dick, chief) taylor was stationed in fort york, germany for the majority of the 1960's. He was a native man from curve lake first nation in ontario.  i was actually conceived in germany! lol. my mom and dad barely made it home to canada to have me.  unfortunately my dad passed away in 1974 when i was 5 and i have been trying for years to find old friends, comrades etc.. of my dad just to know a little more about him.. if anyone recognized his name or my uncle hugh cameron taylor, could u please send me a message. any info about my dad would be greatly appreciated.. i still have his RCR clothing, etc.. and my daughters take them every year to school at remembrance day and talk about their grandfather they never knew. i just wish i had more info for them and this is why i am on here.......to learn more about him not just for my children but for myself also..thank u in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Hi:
I knew a Chief Taylor who served with 1 RCR 1962 to 1965.  He was a real character.  I beleive he was with mortar platoon.  Jim Hickson would be the person to get in contact with, Jim is a walking memory bank.  You can find Jim's e-mail on this site.

Hi Ramona"   I too knew your Dad and as mentioned before he was quite a caracter.   One thing I will always remember about him was the fact that he never took offence at people refering to him as (CHIEF)  we had serveral other native Canadian in the RCR at the time but they did not have the sence of humor that your Dad did.  I knew him in Ipperwash, and London and Germany in the early sixtys.   We were never in the same platoon so I really don;t  have a lot of first hand knowledge or stories to share with you about him.  Alll I can really share with you is that when there was a job to be done he was the first to get at it.    Sincerly  Zulu29er.
