What year was this picture taken. It had to be taken between 1954 and 1970. 3 RCR was a Militia Battalion then. The first guard is wearing hackles. The 3rd Battalion was redesignated 4 RCR 1970.

75 Bravo ADP all members of the regular forces RCR wore the Red Patch which meant we were part of the First Canadian Division.

Hi Buzz:
The 3rd Bn was reconstituted in 1970 when the CDN GDS were deleted from the order of battle. 2 GDS did, in effect, become 3 RCR, a regular force formation.

Not all RCR members of the Canadian Army (Regular) wore the div patch. Only those in units of the 1st Canadian Division -- battalions within brigades -- were entitled to the patch and it sometimes made a mess of the sleeve when you were transerred out of a battalion for extra-regimental employment, took the badge down, then were posted back into a battalion and had to put it back up again. Still, it was a source of pride for all who wore it. Aldi.
