Jim I might have mis-identified the lady in the pic,as it,s been many years.Bill has two daughters, and she reminded me as being his yougest.I knew his kids when they were little girls, but for sure it,s Bill Roushorn. He was at 2002 re-union and came over for a chat. His daughters were with him and I believe he told me he was living in B.C.and loved it.I also hung around with him 58-61 in Ipperwash. That is Bill Roushorn and his wife. Bill now resides in England with her and travelled to Canada for the 125th. He stayed at the motel across the road from us. Bill is still fit as a fiddle, belongs to an aquatic club in England and is a member of a British Korean Vets club. I believe Bill said he was 82. While at the reunion we were reminiscing about the PT demonstration 1 RCR put on at the CNE grounds in Toronto. WE practiced on the parade square to the beat of a drum .Broom-ta-ta. Jim, you must remember that. After the reunionBill was invited to stay at George Lafonds home near Kingston. George and Bill were excellent PTIs with the regiment.

Hi Rick
I think it was in Ottawa because you mention Boom.... ta ta. That command was given by RSM Semple who was the RSM of the Pde. There also was RSM Bob Craig RIP. The RSM of the pde said we will do it. Any Questions? Guard Shoulder Arm's! Boom.... ta ta (To Low). The RSM said "Base Drummer could you play it louder? Base Drummer: "Sir". RSM "Shoulder Arm's. Base Drummer: Boom.....ta ta. Same volume. RSM: Could you beat it louder? Base Drummer: "Sir". RSM Guard Shouuudeeerrr... Arm's. Boom....ta ta (Same volume) RSM getting angry said: Base Drummer play that drum louder!!! Base Drummer: IF YOU THINK YOU CAN HIT IT HARDER COME OVER AND PLAY IT YOURSELF!!!! It was quiet all of sudden.

Hi Ron
No he didn't! This whole thing happened between a Army RSM and a Naval "Base Drummer". This was a time that you didn't talk back to the RSM without saying SIR let alone being a different colour (Navy) besides the senior WO1 in the Army. Things were different then!

Hi Al
Yes they would but the CF have changed a bit since then and don't forget that the Base Drummer was of the NAVY type and it was a Navy band. Mr Semple (The RSM) handled it OK for the time. LOLOLOL

Jim Yes a lot of changes in the C.F. were made, one of my reasons for leaving. To me our leaders (politicians) made so many cuts and changes it blows my mind and surprise,it hasn.t changed. But back to the army navy thing,a little story. Was in Halifax at a bar with some other Royals, and there was a line up right up about 20 stairs. An American fleet had just came into Port the day or so before. An air craft carrier, sub and support ships etc.Anyways some Vandoo at the top of the stairs knocked or pushed a Chief, WO1 I think in our ranked structure right down the stairs.Needless to say the war was on.lololol Al
