I just read a message that someone wrote a-bout their time in the service and how bad it sucked. Well I too had an interesting time in "D" Coy 1 RCR but I am afraid that I have to accept the responsibility of that .I also remember some excellent ncos and officers as well as some very good friends that I never kept in touch with so hey bud life is to short to get wrapped a-round the axle . Jim, Gilligan:
I too was in D Coy 74-77. Bob Heffler was the CSM, Berry Glover the OC, Sgt Olson, Sgt Collier, Rick Rankine, Fred White were some of the Sgt's looking after Moe Morris and myself. The best years of my life were with the royals and 2 Cdo. Out in civvy street I really struggle with the lack of discipline, respect and work ethic. But that's just me.

Good god I remember Fred White , I was in "D" Coy in 73 & 74 but my name is Jerry Gilligan not Jim he's my brother . Does anyone remember Dave Elgie , Sammy Snow or Newf Taylor ?

Ran into Newf Taylor in the late 80"s at tha AMU in Edmonton, I believe he was posted on the West Coast and had remustered to some cushy carreer - can't remeber back that far anymore. He was the same old Newf Taylor, spot him a mile away and not a care in the world.

I remember MCpl Ireland as a matter of fact not a bad sort of fella . I used to drive track back then . I also spent more time in deep doodoo be-cause of my big mouth than even I can be-lieve but you know the old saying . Do you remember W.O. Halfkenny he was my Platoon Warrant . How a-bout Dave Alexander , Charlie Gallant , Harvey Chalk or Scotty Campbell let me know if you know what happened to them . I do remember a fellow named Ingram and some of the other names ring a bell as well , also big John Larson . Hey thanks as I go along other names are wandering down the corridor and into the light .

Hi Jerry , interesting thread you started here..and i have to agree, shit happens and needs to be kept in perspecyive.. i would say at least 99.9% of the buds i served with were A , no one.. none of us is perfect, and we all learn to adapt to so much, usually with smiles and chuckles, often after our selves...one has to be able to laugh at oneself....god Lord , we all do some pretty goofy things , we dont see until some one points them out and we look back and think.. whoooeee.. did i really do that??? I would nt change a thing...guys i served with were/ are brothers and i knew i could put my life in their hands at any time...well, i guess we all did, and most of us are lucky enough to still be here ... that about says what its all about...ranrad

Jerry I remember you abit. i was in B coy at that time. Ron MacDonald was in D coy also the guy who was released after knee surgery because he ended up with one leg shorter than the other, can't remember his name.
Frank Holden was also in D coy. just trying to remember the troops.

Damn man I remember both of those guys , I was looking at some of the pictures posted and one was of Sgt." pipeman" Green and Jerry Doucette . Sgt.Green was my section commander for god sake . That man was so laid back I thought he was almost comatose at times , nothing seemed to rattle him . Jerry Doucette was an-other one like that . I remember Frank Hutchins , Phil Johnson , Phil Jarvis , Janes sorry forgot the first name and of course Erroll Gap but thats be-cause we were in Cornwallis and Gagetown though he was a course a-head of me . Hey do you remember the twins one was in "A" coy and one was in "D" coy ?
