I go back far with Donny. All the way back to 1961 in Ipperwash. The songs he wrote were famous in 1 RCR. Haven't heard a peep since I was in Germany in 1993. Many fine memories.

Donny was one of my section commanders when Delta went to Germany and became Mike Company wayyyyy back when... He learned how to play guitar round then, if I'm not mistaken, and he learned quick!

Hi Mike
Yes you are mistaken. I ran into Don (Smith D.) in 1961 in Ipperslash (Ipperwash) and he was playing guitar then. He wrote many famous songs, of which he wrote down on paper and gave to me and I won't publicise without his permission. One of the songs is about a soldier in 1962 who was charged for theft of gas from the 'Transport Compound' from a vehicle and the song goes 'in front of 'Old Jimmy' (LCol J.A. Johnston) he did go'. The end of the song goes ' I wasn't stealing gas Sir, I was stealing Anti Freeze'.
Maybe someone knows where he is.
