I would like to take the opportunity to make this post for my grandfather who I never got to know.On this day of 27 April 1917 he succumbed to his wounds he recieved at Vimy Ridge.He was 39 years of age and left behind his wife and 8 children He served with 1st. bn. Cdn Infantry Western Ontario Regt. (now 4 R.C.R.)May you and all of our soldiers of WW1 that never came home rest in peace and God Bless. Gone but never forgotten.

NIce post Al, thanks for the info. 39 yrs old...8 children...WW1 and Vimy Ridge had a profounf effect on him , and especially his family..for all time.. as i recall with many othersnhistories regarding WW1, it took many decades, for these terrible effects to be totally absorbed..i hope people realize the sacrifice these men and their families made...for others, for freedom.. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM...ranrad

thank you for posting this Al, and thank you for the sacrifices that your grandfather made in building our country.  I will not forget, from this day forward 27th of April will be a different day for me.  I will mark it in my agenda book and acknowledge him every year.  Thank you!
