Thanks for the up-date R.T. I knew these two well.I knew Mook when he first came to D Coy,we were privates back then and I kicked around with John as Sgts. (62/65) both in the 1st. bn. Would you happen to know whatever became of John.I have often wondered while reminiscing.Haven,t seen John since 65 when I left the bn. for civvy st.John was a very quiet guy, until you got a couple of beers into him and even then he was quiet.Seen Mook at 2002 re-union and had a long, long chat with him, first I,d seen Mook in 37 yrs.Sure was shocked at his passing.Anyway you cut it R.T. they were two of the finest Royals that i served with.

Hello Al and BJ:

That photo was taken in late August or September 1985.  Mookie was always looking for adventure and when I was posted to Northern Region in Yellowknife he came up for a visit every summer that I was there.  John Jensen and Mookie came up to Alaska on the ferry from Vancouver Island and I came over by road from Whitehorse where I had been working on closing the cadet camp.  We went over the Chilcoot at a time when the hiking season was over and the park ranger patrols had ceased.  It was also bad weather but Mookie and John had a ferry to catch back to B.C.  When I say bad weather it really means BAD when you are 3 thousand feet up on the Chilcoot.  To go back home without going over the top was NOT an option.  We were gluttons for punishment but did it and got back to Skagway, Alaska in time for the lads to catch the ferry.

I had not seen John Jensen from 1965 until 1985 when we spent a very intense three days together and enjoyed every minute of it -- frozen and soaked for some of time -- and have not met him since but that is the army way.

John is living in Victoria, BC and can be picked up on Canada411.com the national phone book.  I intend to call him and have a chat myself.  I agree with Al, those two men for two of the finest Royals who ever wore combat boots.

All the best, RT
