I am beginning to suspect their is confusion between the grenade and the parachute incidents as I cannot recall of hearing another grenade incident within the Regiment during that year.

Mike I do know that a Pte Mike Woods (first name?)died in a jump in Germany. He originally was in J Coy 2RCR. He was posted to Germany the same time I was in 1980. That was the year we had a drowning also.

Hi Guys, Randy Pike, N coy 81-84 I think Mr. Denton has his wires crossed a little ,it was Mcpl Jeff Wood that died along with Cpl. Wedel on July 21, 1983 and it was a hand grenade accident. As far as I know there is NO Mcpl Smith. The other guy that died was as far as I can figure Pte J.B. Wood who died during a parachute accident in Aug. 1981(civi jump on the airfield?) his hometown was given as Lakefield Ont. at least thats what it said on the Regimental Honor Roll. Any one else got any info? The guy that drowned was a friend of mine Pte Ron Ford we went through basic and got posted to 3RCR together. I was trying to get his name on the Book Of Rememberance and mentioned the other two guys but I got the dates wrong on Pte. Wood and may have caused some confusion, I sent an email off to the guys responsible for the book and hope fully sorted it out. Pro Patria. Randy Pike.
