Hi Jim, sent you a couple of photos. 1st one is when our police magazine put a few pages to-gether for support our troops and sent them over through our reserve unit here in Oshawa. 2nd is our home for 11Nov every year. The flag pole out front does not show the CDN Flag put it has been up ever since our troops went over and will remain until they come home.3rd one is my Dad (step Dad, as my Dad is buried in Cassino)and I at a school for Remembrance day. Last is me in the Watch 1961 during basic. Left the Army in 64 to come home from Germany and started in General Motors and got married to Yvonne who is still my wife after 40 years. I joined the reserve unit here in Oshawa (Ontario Regiment) which was a tank outfit. Found out that the reserves did things different and I use to get in a few discussions on how to do things. I worked in QM with S/Sgt. Kelly of the RCRs. Good guy to work for. I think he lives around the Kingston area. Hated G.M so went back in in 68 and they put me right back in Gagetown with the Watch. Done 2 weeks refresher and then right out to the field. Yvonne was in GM at the time and we could not afford to live in N.B. so put in a transfer to London. Ended up in A Coy and had a great time with the fellows that I met. It was great to be able to walk down town in London instead of trying to hitch a ride all the time to Fredericton which back in that time there was nothing in town to speak of. Hung out with Ralph Morgon,Roy Leblanc John Jesso. Unification was certainly rearing it's ugly head at this time. Yvonne was trying to get a transfer to London for G.M. but they were giving her a hard time. Had some really good times in the field with the Royals for as long as I was with them. Jamaica was a blast. Back in London I started to inquire about our status and were the Regiment would be in the future. Couldn't get a straigt answer so just before we went to Cyprus I put in for my release which wasn't long in coming.I should add that my wife was having a real hard time with the Motors in her trying to get here. We were on the square doing our thing which I think was on a Tue. in getting ready for Phillip comeing over and they called me in and told me to start clearing. I was home on Thur.done with the Regulars. Worked for a oil company and then in 1974 started with the Durham Regional Police Force as a civilian. Just retired after 33.5 years. I also went back into the Ontario's for a few years. Just couldn't seem to get the Military out of my system. Ended up as cook Sgt. Met another guy who had spent time with the Queens Own and then PPCLI. He was LOU Mackenzie's Sgt. Name was Bob Johnston & had 24 years in. Also had Fred Thorton here who was cook before I was. We have a fifth wheel and now our enjoying ourselves. Have our reservations for Kingston For the 125th. Hope to meet at least someone I know. Never been to a RCR reunion yet but have made the trip East. Been into the Royals museum a few times and still find it to be one of the best. You and I might have had a beer or two in the mess or in the field. You ask for some info so hope I didn't bore you to much. I spent a few hours looking at your photo's on the site. Am a member of Branch 637 (3rd Vice) and carry Colours on Parade with another x Royal Red Huse ( Korean Vet) and then he went to food services And cooked for the Watch. Red had 25 years I believe then retired. I took him to the Musuem and he is now going to take his Grandson. Have a great day.
