Yes, it's Germany, but I don't think it was 1962 considering that those are Leopard C1's which we didn't acquire until the late '70s.

Jim/Abe, I agree. Leopard C1s in Germany, likely during Fallex in the requisitioned maneuver area, rather than a training areas such as Grafenwehr/Hohenfels, given the paved road, and on an administrative, rather than a tactical, move given the spacing. There doesn't appear to be too much damage for CIMIC to pay compensation on, though. Good lads, those Treadheads. Aldi

I think that these are the rent-a-tanks we had from the Germans before we got our own. If you look closely you can see the searchlight by the main gun which we didn't have on ours.

I thought the rental Leo I's had the rounded cast turrents and the C1s got the welded laminated-armour flat-panel turrets with the bustle. Perhaps those are Hoffmann Devices, fire simulators, rather than searchlights -- it's hard to make out the detail. Aldi
