Karl Edmund Fowler MM???
« on: February 16, 2008, 09:26:55 AM »

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie here, and I'm trying to do some research on a guy whose medals I own, his details are:

SC.6603 CORPORAL K.E.FOWLER MM RCR

He got his MM in Korea (29-November-1952).

Any help you guys can give me, like did anyone know him (or even possibly have a picture with him in???)  I love to find out as much about the backgrounds of the medals I own as possible, it keeps their memories alive.

All the best, and thanks in advance,
Tom

   Hello Historian
Ref.Karl Fowler M.M..I believe this to be the same Fowler who was my !st platoon sgt. as a Royal in 1954.If it is,and I believe so.you can be very proud and honoured to be the recipient of his medals. Karl, as I remember, was a good and fair person to all the guys in the platoon. He was a quiet and humble person as I remember him and was respected by all the guys.I believe Karl had been taken prisoner while on patrol in Korea, but never talked of his past.I beieve Karl is on the Honour Roll of this web site under the F.s.Also the Regt Adj. of this site could possibly help you more.We also had a nickname for Karl as most of the guys had.Karl,s was Fuzz, and that is with deepest respect.Hope this little bit of info is of some help.

Hi Al,

Please call me Tom  Smiley  So "Fuzz" Fowler is the same guy as Karl (thought it may have been a coincidence):

Here is his set and his citation, in case anyone didn't know what it said;

I am honoured to own every man's medals in my collection from the humblest war medal to a group like Karl's, I love finding out about the man behind the medals, and sometimes the best way is to find someone who knew them, thanks for the info, I'll add it to his page. I had no idea he was ever taken prisoner, theres nothing in the file I have that came with the medals (all it has is some very basic research and his citation).  I'm guessing you may have known a Lt Gardner as well then?Huh

All the best,
Tom

Hi,

I'm glad you find it interesting, so much can be lost to the ether, if it is not researched properly.

Does anyone think the RCR museum could possibly help???  And can I get service records yet???

I checked the honor roll.and it shows K.E.Fowler as having passed in Oct 88 Kingston Ont..Also want you to know that it makes me very happy to know that this is another soldier who is gone, but will never be forgotten.

Hi Al,

Thank you for that information (that'll help me to get his records I think).  As for remebering him, thats the way it should be, he served his country and deserves for that to be remembered, their memory should always be kept alive.
