G'Day!
« on: March 10, 2008, 06:08:43 PM » |

Came across this forum tonight, and I've spent the evening combing through it, seeing familiar names and faces, and reliving alot of good memories.
Not going to run down the entire list of my career, but will suffice with what I think to be possible highlights (I'm sure someone will chime in... 'a Royal never passes a fault'...) of my short 9 years in the Regiment and since.
JP Morgan RCR Btl Sch, 85 - Ypres Pl 2RCR, G Coy 85-87 - Recce crse, Mountain warfare crse, Norway, intercompany rivalry (G Force vs Smurf Coy). US rainjackets permanent wear in the field, but stoning offence in garrision. 3RCR, P Coy & Recce 87-92 - Germany, Sniper crse, 61C, Beerfests, 41C, ISCC in Stalag Stamuhl, Wales, 'THE Company' on parade, Hammelburg, Vogelsang... Did I mention Germany? 1RCR, Charles & Mortars 92-94 - Being literally read the Riot Act for having more than 2 'Germany Guys' congregating within 1RCR lines, Somalia. All 3 Bns - Good friends, good memories. Remustered to Topo Surveyor in 94, which became Geomatics Tech in 97. Tours in Bosnia [svy the IEBL- 96, 3RCR BG HQ - 98/99, MNB HQ - 02], Haiti (04), and Afghanistan (Feb-Nov 06). Some of the most rewarding times were again serving with Royals.
Not sure how often I'll be dropping by this forum, or if I'll be making it to the Reunion (even though it's not far from here), but I'll try to do both.
Cheers, Jeep

Hi JP. welcome to the boards. Yes I seem to remember once I was posted back to Canada and in 1 RCR in Petawawa getting read the riot act on talking with friends from 3 RCR (Germany).
Hopefully you will find the time to pass by once in a while.

Wayne! Good to hear from you. Saw your name on a list recently... Congratulations, and well done!
Haiti? Was there a Haiti tour in 2004? No medal, but who cares... we had a pool, eh? LOL
Cheers, Jeep

Hey Jeep I used to wash my socks in that pool towards the end of the tour. People wondered why their sock were grey and mine were still white.

Phil!
Did your hair ever grow back normal after Glenn Vey ripped it out while cutting it in Mog? The picture of you getting your hair cut in "Between the Lines" still makes me laugh. I saw Glenn Vey (MWO) in Edmonton as I was leaving Edmonton for Afghanistan in 2006.
Speaking of the Yanks we helped out... I'm still friends with Hammer, and our families get together about once a year. He's out as well, but still playing with things that blow up.
Cheers, JP
