I joined the RCR in 1958 and released in 1965 due to having two children and no wife..I went into nursing and remarried a beautiful girl..I served with A company 2nd battalion and posted to Camp Borden for one year. Attended the junior nco course 1963. I completed the junior nco course of 1963. Like many, making a living and raising a family took most of my time and eventually met soe buddies I served with and involved myself with vet organizations. I started out to join the Service Corps to follow in my grandfather and father's footsteps and was sure, I would make it at 119 pounds and 5" tall but, they sent me to the Royals which I have never regretted. Anyone in that time frame never forgot the area boxing match when Smitty made me see stars..I was fortunate to serve with the RCR and I know that whoever coined the phrase Band of Brothers, meant the Royals. I know, anyone who served, and still serving are an elite group. We surely will remember.

I went ito depot around October or November of 58. I'll check the picture. Do you remember Sgt. Molesworth and there was a Cpl. burned while mixing floor cleaning material around 1960 I think. Sure is great to jog the memory because they were good years.

Hi Robby
You said you ran into a Royal, [poor guy had a stroke], well the same thing happened to me. My wife was in BC and I was alone when it struck. I laid on the floor for nearly 10 hrs. My friend Joe called and I heard the phone ring. Don't ask me how I heard it. I picked it up and then I found out I couldn't talk. Joe said he would phone back and he did. I made a noise mmmm mmmm and I heard him say "I'll call 911". With that I laid back down and passed out again. It was 2 weeks before I remember anything. I stayed in the hospital from 29 Apr to 1 Jul 2004. On Sep 1 st I went to Calgary for a month. I can't use my right arm and I have real trouble speaking. I have trouble walking as well, but you know something I'm alive. Pro Patria.

Sorry to hear about the stroke.
I will have a prayer for you before "lights out", for your continuing recovery and good cheer.
