On the vane of never pass a fault, I'll move this post over to the approriate thread. Thanks Jim.

...Roger was one of the first sergeants I met on returning to the 1st from germany, I think he was the BOS... anyhow, we used to have some pretty good times in the mess, specially TGIFs  before they butchered the bar and changed the interior around. T'was a sad day. Wayne Northrup was the RSM at the time and, to his credit, used to take a moment on Friday afternoons to have a word with the young sergeants. Or nod at us with one of those steely eyed glances. One day prior to Christmas, he comes and stands beside Roger and I at the bar. After a few coolies, Roger and he gets into this somewhat heated conversation about Roger's dog, one that abruptly ended when Roger blurts out that his dog was smarter then Mr Northrup

Having a keen survival instinct, I feigned selective hearing and, excusing myself, got the HELL OUT OF THE FIRING LINE!
