1981 - RCR Battle School, Korea Platoon
« on: January 29, 2008, 10:42:43 AM »

Good Day All Royals!

If there is anyone out there who was in Korea Platoon, It would be great to hear from you.

In particular, does anyone know what became of Steve "Rosie" Saunders, Rob Edinbourgh, and/or Roy Schreiber and where they are today?

If so, any info will be appreciated.

Thanks, and...

Pete Schwarz...can you believe it brother....long time. Hope all is well. You should remember me from 8Pl O Coy in Germany. Its Russo. Far as I know, Rosie is in Toronto somewhere and as for Edinbourgh he is in the TO area as well. I was speaking with Jimmy Lionetti just last week. Info I got on Rosie was from him. If you would like his number, give me an email and I will forward it to you. Can remeber some crazy times in O Coy, How about you, WO Bob Hunt was your favorite right, right up there with RayJay Murin I bet....LOL...Still remember the day you drank from that pop can with a wasp in it. Man you had a major Lip On!! LOL...Anyway, drop me a line sometime and take care. Hope to see you at the reuinion next Aug.

Hey Gene, how the hell are you?

I ran into Gerry Oberworth in Trenton around 1999/2000 and he told me he told me you were active in the RCR association.  It's great to hear from you.

So you were speaking to D.J. Lionetti, eh?  There's another fella I'd like to touch base with.  If you happen to speak to him again (anytime soon), please give my regards and my email address <schwarz.pa@forces.gc.ca>.

There were a few other guys that I wonder if you have heard anything about;  MacKinnon, Stubbert, Buttons, Pinnock aka "Smoke" (can't remember their first names), Sven Adler etc.  I remember WO Hunt (though I'd forgotten his name until I read it in your message) and I'm not sure I remember Murin (Sgt?).

I saw Carl Bomberry in St Jean back in 1999 and I think he was a WO at the time, not sure if he's still in though.  Hedley Patey was in Trenton around 2003 when I was there, I think he was with the parachute school.

I'll never forget the "Lip-On" incident (nor will any others that witnessed it, I'm sure).  That was the second time that I reacted to bee stings in Germany.  I'd been stung by bees in Canada many times before going to Germany and have been several times since and I have never had a reaction here.  It seems there's something about those German bees that I have a problem with.

If you happen to speak to anyone that would like to contact me, please give them my email address and/or direct them to this message board.

Thanks very much and all the best,

Pete.

Hey Pete:

Im doing fine brother. Glad you remembered the boys. Have not heard from Winston Pinnock, Craig Stubbart or Mack. Sven is up in the Thornbury area in Collingwood. Im pretty sure he is working at Bruce Nuclear, security detail. Have not talked to him though in years. I spoke with DJ and he told me that he would catch the message string on the site and get a hold of you. He is in Toronto.  I stand corrected on Rosie. DJ tells me he lives in Georgetown and works in Toronto. He is going to call him and pass the message along. Hopefully we can all get together sometime soon for some laughs and old stories. Just watched the SuperBowl and looks like NYG took it to the Patriots. Too bad for Brady, would of looked good on his resume if he had won 4. Oh well, all good things come to an end sooner or later. Man such a good year, and they gotta loose the big one...... take care and we'll hook up soon.
