Hi Ron

Everybody talks of Marv's mustache? Why? He never had a mustache for a long time. I've known him since we came back from Germany in 1965 and he was a Cpl without a mustache.

He had a real humdinger of a 'stache  when I served with him in the eighties, Jim. Lordy, once waxed, he had to be careful when going into Blur of Motion mode on the parade square or he'd lose an eye!  Wink

Hi Mike & Terry

I sorry to disagree with you but the date on this picture is 1981. The other picture of Marv in uniform is dated 1982.

I returned from the 3rd in Germany in 82, CWO Northrup was still RSM till 83, wherein Marv arrived. I think he had his mustache then, yes? Anybody aboard who can give us a sit rep on his status today?

Marv didn't have a mustache that I remember until he left the CABC and was RSM of 1RCR. Also I don't think Marv had one until after the 84-85 Cyprus tour. Anyone else remember any better?

When I was posted to Delta Coy, 1 RCR London from P Coy, 3 RCR Petawawa in 1977, MWO MacDonald was our CSM, and I recall that he had quite a moustache.    I seem to recall that moustache while on our live-fire exercise in Suffield that year as well.

Just looked at my eight-point'd star book from the tour.

Mustache present and accounted for.

I saw Mr. MacDonald at the REC/Senate/ROIC Meet and Greet 04 Dec 07.  Had a great chat over a few beers with both him and Mr. O'Quinn.  Mr. MacDonald looked great ... I believe he told me he was 70 ... or in his 70's ... regardless, he still has the stiff proud bearing of an RSM .... and yes he still had the moustache!!

Hey look at this for what it's worth. All I said, is the time I knew him he was longer without out a mustache than with one! Her are some pictures that don't lie!  1978 - 1982

  Hi Ron

I can say he had a mustache after I left for CFSIT in 1982 and I saw him at the 100th Anniversary in 1983. I saw him every year on the trips I took as Career Manager and the Regimental Merit Board and yes, he had a mustache. He had a mustache when I took over as RSM. So I knew him (on the job) from 1966 to 1988 and he never wore a mustache from 1966 to 1982 incl. 1983 to 1988 yes he had a mustache and the picture below show that! He's had his mustache ever since retired!
