Greetings All....Eli here (as Nelson Bishop use to say)... I see Doug C was quick off the mark..As Brian said, there will be no prizes for correct submissions, just bragging rights. For those incorrect answers, do not fear, no fines, detention, confined to barracks or extra work and drill will be levied against you.I cannot however garantee that ak-ak fire may not be wailled in your direction by some unsuspecting viewing members for failing to remember such a distinguished group of "Regimental Athletes" (ha!) ....Anyway, good luck to everyone and have fun with it.
Doug, I'll refraim from commenting on your submission till after the weekend...It'll give you time to re-think your submission. This I'll extend to you only because you were the first to submitt but please, don't loose any sleep over it...(ha! ha!)
Have a great weekend everyone...Eli

Greetings all. Great to see the interest building. Even got a submission from DAB MacDonald via my other e-mail address. All of you are doing fairly well, some better than others....Here's a few hints that might help get the old grey matter going and maybe get a few other readers in on a try.
Year.......1972 Unit........A Coy 1RCR
Good luck....Eli

DS SOLUTION: As mentioned previously, the year was 1972, Unit: A Coy, 1RCR London. The team played every Wednesday (sports afternoons) and on this particular day, after a cruelling 3 weeks of playoffs, we battled against Support Coy for the "B" Div trophy emerging victourious with a 5-3 score. (I believe DAB MacDonald played for Support Coy).
At the end of the game, the regimental photo tech took the picture afterwhich we proceeded to the "Ox Box" to celebrate. For some strange reason the trophy remained there long after we had left that day.....Anyway herego the list of champions:
1- Doug Little 2-Freddy (frosty) Dakin 3-Johnny Ouellette 4-Ken Smale 5-Dave Newstead 6-Johnny Coyle 7-Ken Warnki 8-Wayne Weise 9-Hector Lewis 10-Barry Power 11-Duke Lowden 12-Armand Napman 13-Johnny (Willie) Williams 14-Ed MacDougall 15-Joe Kelly 16-Yours Truly
Challenge Winners:
Aldore finishes first with 11 out of 12 correct names submitted while Ron and DAB remained tied with 9 out of 10. Given the age of these three fine gentlemen, one can only be impressed at their ability to recall going back some 30 years past...Well done all.
P.S. DAB MacDonald you can bring that trpohy back now that the truth is out..... (ha! ha!)

This challenge is false at best , as it says hockey team / players . Good guys , maybe .
First I don't see a hockey player among the bunch and specificall the DS . We at Base Sup / Maint constantly kicked their butts and Dabs team also .
As for the DS ( The Wedge ) , I had the misfortune of trying to coach this player later in his career ; a task which proved impossible as he diplayed no talent and there was no hope for this individual . To make matters worse he is now trying to referee . Eli , give the game a break and settle in to your true nitch , as a fan .
Barry Orr : oops , I mean Lewis

Hmmmm......Lewis?......Hmmmm...... Barry Lewis?......Hmmmmm........Can someone help me out here?.................Barry Lewis?
I seem to vaguely recall a hockey coach I had many years ago by that name........Didn't know much about the game as I re-call....After being so told by many, he apparently decided to give up coaching and take on refereeing as an alternative during the winter months (probably did so because his brother made it to the NHL as an official so he figured he could also)...Not to be!!!! Apparently he was as good a hockey official as he had been a coach...That's why he now spends his winter months surffing the internet making rude and disparaging comments to anyone that might listen.
Plse Note: The only real coach I ever had by the name of Lewis was the fine gentleman in the team picture above...Hector LEWIS....
Barry: that wasn't fair of you to draw DAB into this....You know he never really got use to to the red and blue lines...After all, not unlike myself, he'd been introduced to the sport on the Brad'or Lakes in Cape Breton.
"Have a LARGE Army Day" everyone (and Barry, get back to work!) ......Eli

I see young David is stirring the pot again well we all have our small crosses to bare but then you have Dave nice enough fellow and yes very intelligent even if that attribute is wasted most of the time Bill pay no attention to that evil child he was abused at a tender age I think Larry Clare started it in Europe some time ago at any rate he uses the vitriolic tongue to annoy people and try to show his prowess but it's all flash flash just another poor boy trying to make an impression So Bill don't even listen to that little trouble maker Take Care
