A ROYAL CANADIAN "NEVER PASSES A FAULT"
|
CHOPTIANY, Franciszek (Frank) Peacefully our 'Grand Old Man' went to heaven on Sunday evening, January 13, 2008 surrounded by his family and their love. Franciszek (Frank) was born in Chlopowka, Poland on August 12, 1927. Shortly after Frank's birth, his father Tomasz went to Canada to earn money to purchase farmland in Poland. Advised of the possibility of another war, Tomasz decided to purchase land in Canada and sent for his wife, Jozefa, and son to join him in 'The New Country'. Finally joining him in 1937 they settled first on a farm on Pelee Island, then in Essex County near Windsor, Ontario. As a young man Frank served with the 22nd Division of the Royal Canadian Regiment (Paratroopers) from 1949 to 1952. After his service he moved to the West Coast, where he worked for BC Forest Products (sawmill) Victoria for 36 years. Frank retired for 6 months, then joined the Commissionaires and worked in the Royal BC Museum until he was 70. Giving retirement a second chance, he enjoyed his family, garden, and church community. In 1998 Frank and his wife Barbara embarked on their 5 month dream trip across Canada, an adventure of a lifetime. Survived by, his wife of 43 years Barbara (Bee), & children Timothy (Debbie), Robert, Kathleen, Lisa Ann, and Stephen (Diane). Grandson Jesse (Tejan). Brother Stan. Many nieces, nephews, loving friends, & honorary children and grandchildren adopted in his heart. His spirit, strength, and goodness will be with us in our hearts eternally. A heartfelt thank you for care received in recent years from paramedics and the staff at both the RJH and VGH ER's. Also a very special thank you for the loving care and kindness of the doctors, nurses, and staff at the VGH ICU -especially Patty, Shawn, and Anne. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Reverend John C. Macquarrie from ST. PETER'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 3939 St. Peter's Road, on Friday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Royal Oak Burial Park. Tributes, if desired, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #107 - 1001 Cloverdale Avenue, Victoria, B.C. V8X 4C9. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com 437955
