For those who would like to know. The above noted period is expected to be very ROUGH both for the Van Doos and our 3rd battalion when they arrive later this year. I have been told by Third battalion that SUPPORT troops are going to be withdrawn in the next few weeks leaving the infantry to fend for themselves. Their expectations of sever trouble is anticipated. They mention that they feel left out in left field all by themselves.
Lets hope they are wrong. I wish each of them GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING. Pro Patria. George.

ranrad - Hi. Yes that is what I was told last week by a member of the 3rd battalion. They apparently tre not to happy about it either. However, as I recall, once Winter sets in over there it becomes extremely difficult for the taliban to work without shelter etc in the cold snow and wet terrain. Lets keep our fingers crossed for each of them.

Well, thats nice... so our sharp end guys have now the added burden to form their own support system... why dont we all just find a way to " hover" while were at it... this is insane...lack of supply line has defeated more armies than time can remember..whose brain wave is this. Someone needs to throw some combat gear on them and " rush " them up to the front line to see what its all about....they will learn in a hurry ... but will likely perish , so the learning will go for naught.....what the h*** is going on here?? Surely the Gen Hillier is not allowing this??? ranrad

ranrad - I cannot add anything more towhat you have said. I agree with you 100 %. We will not know for certain until the Press starts talking ABOUT IT at the point it takes effect. I was as shocked as he was when he told me.

Hmmmm.. been thinking on this , maybe someone has misunderstood someone else... maybe they are going to place ALL support troops directly under the Regt that is there at the sharp point...anyone got any other ideas on this... it sounds pretty nuts to me... sorry George i dont doubt what you have said, you can only pass what you know, but i hope there is some kind of reasonable explanation....God almighty , it took the sharp end troops long enough to get the supply and support system running the way it has to help win wars and battles,,, so i hope there is s good explanation... ranrad
