Was stationed in Pet. in the early 70's and at that time " Y " Coy. had the 106 and the SS-11 , which was mounted and fired of a 3/4 truck and their was only a couple of people who could fire it Jim Brodrick and Doug Millar. My question is did 3 RCR have it because of its AMF role ? and it seemed to fade away fairly quickly ! Does any one have an info on this weapon system ?  Thanks

Interestingly, the Wikipedia article doesn't mention Canada as an operator of the SS11.  In 4CMBG, in the 1965-68 timeframe, there was a brigade anti-tank company which was equipped with the SS11.  It was manned by 3 R22eR and was located at Fort Anne (I believe) at Werl.  They were a brigade asset and would often appear in your unit area unannounced, and set up wherever they pleased.  Sometimes it could be quite annoying because their requirements vis-a-vis fields of fire, camouflage, etc were different than those of an infantry company.  We were always glad to see them move on.
