I frequently visit this site as a member an a former Royal and enjoy every moment of it and I sure feel insulted when a guest advertise on this site. There should be a way of stopping this sort post from happening.

I wholeheartedly agree Aldore. Hope a way can be found to stop them. Maybe this one sneaked in at what they thought was and opportune moment. ranrad

Hi all as a moderator of this site I try to catch the posts u mention and delete them asap.   If only the creator of the site could disallow non members from posting this could be stopped.   The only one who should be allowed to post here should be registered and accepted by the moderator as was the case when I had my own site,  all messages had to be passed by myself before they could be read by anyone else.   The problem with guest posts is they leave no trace to block future posts.

Gents, control of a forum is a double-edged sword.  We can restrict it to registered members only, but then random visits by Royal Canadians who don't want the hassle of registering never get noticed, and we lose that contact.  Allowing non-registered posters comes at a price, and that is the occasional spam.  The simple answer is ignore them, and I delete them when I find them.

Keep in mind the Association doesn't run this site, Brian Watters did, and now I do because I took over all web related duties when Cpl Watters left RHQ for his new trade.

If I really wanted to control the board, I would make it registered members only, and the registration would require your Association membership number.

For now, I prefer a more relaxed approach, we just have to accept the risks that includes.

If it wasnt for the open borders policy of this forum I never would have reconnected with the Regiment. Spammers suck but it is a small price to pay if even one Royal can get plugged in to this great online community.
Peace
