I was sad to read of the passing of Major W.F. Stott in the London Free Press this morning. Wally was 84 years of age. I have a lot of fond memories of him, particularly in Germany 62 to 65 and Cyprus 67. He was always concerned for the welfare of the soldiers serving under him. Rest in peace. My condolences to his family..Pro Patria.

Hello Rick: I am sorry to note the passing of Wally.
Do you recall the night in 1967 when we had some officers visit our junior ranks mess in the sheep shed at the Kyrenia Pass. Late at night Wally went missing and Maj Jimmy Knox had us all outside yelling "Walleeeeeeeee!" as he feared the absent one had fallen over those steep grape terraces on the hillside. The search went on until the bartender, Cpl Elmer Teale went to his bunk in back of the bar and found Wally having a snooze.
There will be an RCR service at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Rd. N., London on Friday, May 25 at 1000 hrs. The family service will be held at 1100 hrs. All the best, RT

I do remember that. I had found Wally stumbling around in the dark and quietly, to keep him out of trouble I took him in and put him on Elmers bed. I think Elmer was on leave at the time. The troops always looked after the Officers held in greatest respect.

Your duty is done so rest in peace and my condolences to his family and friends. If were not for Major Stott sending me to jail for 30 days in 1964 I probably wouldn't be making all the Posts I've made.

Hi Bob
Well it's a long story...
There was an ID parade by the Belgian's...
I was ID...
They were wrong that time but they missed me a whole lot of times not to mention a few...

MAJOR WALLY STOTT, Maj Stott, when I served with him, was the 2nd in Command of the 1st Bn. 1962 to 1965. He did a great job. He balanced the finances under two CO's, a true Royal. I'll hoist a toast. Hugh Conway
