Members "of a certain age" who served in Fort York may be interested in viewing a photo on the Canadian Guards Association website. Go to www.canadianguards.ca, click on "albums" and then "new".

Cheers.

Hi All
I was part of the 1 BN RCR and we arrived in the fall of 1955 and stayed to the fall in 1957. We returned in 1962 and stayed till 1965. These photo's reminded me off the Big Show on July 1957 in the "Rote Erde" Stadium when 324 Royals in Tw's and Maroon Berets formed the word CANADA

Hi Hugh

I too knew RSM Ross Bennet. He lived on Piccadilly St in London. I used to go to his home often. He had a daughter Geraline and a son named Danny (both were adopted). I used to talk for hours about the Army, and we started out ok it was Jimmy, then Jim, then it was my boy and then Corporal. At this point I called him RSM lolololol. We used to call those conversations: Listen to me boy!! lololol Boy I would give my left arm to have those "talks" back. Oh well time goes fast when your having fun!!

Gentlemen,

On behalf of  http://baor-locations.com/default.aspx

Is there any chance that somebody could tell me exactly where Fort York was? The site is trying to build up a history of locations, regiments, etc., who served in Germany from 1945 to date.

If you look here:-

http://baor-locations.com/canada.aspx

there are some details, as well as in various locations such as Iserlohn, Hemer, Soest, and Werl.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you.

Paul Pearce-Smith
