Hi Matty

Boy the pictures sure bring back the memories. What was the name of the Hotel in Amsterdam? What Coy were you in? It would have to be B Coy? You'll have to excuse so many questions but you look familiar. I know the rest of guys. (You and Jr with the same vests on). Can you tell me where the others are?

YES JIM ,WE WERE WITH "B" CO., THAT MY BED WHERE WE ARE PLAYING CARDS ON, I WAS IN QM STORES AT THE TIME AND THEN I WENT INTO STORES WITH B CO,WITH STAFF-SARG RENNIE..  SHAKEY FRASER,BURGESS AND PALMER WERE ALSO IN B CO, PALMER AND MACINNIS PLAYED ON THE RCR HOCKEY TEAM.  THOSE VEST ARE NOVA SCOTIA TARTAN,MADE BY MY MOTHER, NOT SURE OFF THE MOTEL, BUT THE OWNER MET US AT THE TRAIN STATION AND TOOK US TO HIS HOTEL,I THINK WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THERE,AS WHEN MOST OF THE BATTION WENT TO AMSTERDAM WE STAYED BEHIND AND DID GUARD DUTY,AND WENT THE NEXT WEEK,I THINK IT WAS OUR EMBARKACTION LEAVE THAT WE DIDN'T GET IN CANADA. HAS ANY ONCE SEEN PALMER OR BURGESS.  MATTY

Hi Matty

I myself have not seen or heard of them. Yes I remember Jr, Palmer, Shaky, Dupius, Phil and you. I'll tell you what gave you away, when you said you woked with Shakey. Speaking of the hotel, did the guy who owned the Hotel, Freddy, have a german sheppard named Max and did you go down stairs to the hotel?

HI JIM, I'M NOT SURE WHO OWNED THE HOTEL, I THINK IT WAS AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE DERBY BAR, WHERE WE SPENT MOST OF OUR TIME., I THINK THE BAR WAS ON THE MAIN FLOOR, AS WE WENT UPSTAIRS TO OUR ROOMS, I DO KNOW THAT THE OWNER'S WIFE ATTENDED BAR, SHE WAS A BLOND, PALMER HAD HIS EYE ON HER, HA HA, I HAVE MORE PICTURES THAT I WILL GET WILLY BOWERS TO POST.   MATTY MILES

Hi Matty

I just wanted to find out if that was the same place I stayed when I went to Amsterdam. I don't think it was. The name of the hotel was Hotel Venema.

Hi Matt.

Ernie here and thanks for having these great pictures posted.  A lot of memories flash back and stories can be told on each one of these Royals.  Shakey, was one of the first boys to pass on after leaving the Regiment. Shakey, worked with the Commissioners here at the London, Ont Airport until the time of his death.  Hopefully, we will make it to the next reunion to be held in Kingston, Ont Aug 2008.

Pro Patria buddy.

Best regards.

Ernie.

Hi Matt.

Thanks for the post and I will try to find out what Jr. MacInnis, is doing these days.  We lost two of the finest Royals in the past three months:  Cpl Larry Soroka, who was living in Kingston, Ontario, and Sgt Lenoard Curtis living here in London, Ontario.  Two of my brothers in every sense of the word.  Best regards for now and stay in touch.

Pro Patria.

I was a Lcpl in D Coy 1 RCR,  Fort York,Sports Coy, lived in a cubicle at  the end of the Pl lines, woke up early one morning, 3 AM or so, had a look, Jr. Macinnes , who was about 5'4" was putting a licking on a 6' fella, tough dude. Great times. Hugh Conway
