I knew Rick since the day I joined the army. We went through basic together and in fact he is the first guy I met in the army when we were recruited in Winnipeg in January of 86. We went to Cornwallis 4 Platoon and then in Pet as Korea Platoon. We were both in Dukes together then I went to Transport and Rick was posted to 3 RCR Winnipeg. I put in a memo to go to 3 RCR as well and we joined up again in 88. We were once again in the same platoon for two years--before we were sent to Yugo. After Germany we both got out and Rick visited me often when I lived in Manitoba. Then he got back in the army and shortly thereafter he killed himself. He was a great guy and I will always blame the mission in Yugo for the waste of life and the loss of a great friend.
I miss ya Rick and im sure everyone that knew ya feels the same. Remember Rick.

I knew Rick as well, and have good memories of him, very shocked to hear of what happened.

I recognize the face, but don't think I knew him well as I LOTPed in '87.
I had a friend / neighbour in Gagetown posted to the school when I was a 2RCR medic. He was a member of one of our brother regiments. He was also on one of the first tours of Yugo during the shite at the time; he got posted back to his regiment, went on another tour 10 years later back to Yugo. When he got back to Yugo, he started to have some problems. (?flashbacks). He ended being diagnosed as PTSD and finally got the help required.
To Rick's family and buddies; my condolences. He will be remembered.
