Jim thats a riot., most people dont remember, but we didnt have enough anti tank guns so LCol Jimmy Johnston had every second gun made out of old telephone poles painted black. We had to drive to Gagetown from Ipperwash and he thought soviet spies might notice the deficiencies at the hieght of the cold war. It was really wet in Gagetown that year and Billy Pye was my 2ic for the second detachment. I got into trouble because when we arrived the only dry wood was the second gun and Bill and I burned it. I had to go and trim a tree and replace it. I'm sure it was the only 106 anti tank gun with pine knots...lol..Pro Patria..Rick..By the way the other two in the pic were Ray Hamill and Scott.

Thats not all Rick. Going down to Gagetown we pulled off for a break outside River Du Loop. I recall a gentleman (French) looking at the jeeps and then laughing out loud and saying (Aaaaa sont a faites en bois. Comment tu tir) (Aaaaa they are made of wood how do you shoot them) I told the gun crew what he said and they didn't even laugh. lololol Let not discuss the Enemy catching a couple and sawing them in two lololololololol
