London Branch will be having a Paardeberg Luncheon on 27 Feb 2007. 11:30 FOR 12;00 At the Sgt;s Mess. Roast Beef, at a cost of $10.00 per person. Calls to the Branch Members will be done shortly, in order to plan the number of meals required. Please ensure that if you state your intention to attend that you do show up, as we must pay for your meal even if you do not attend. Any other members of the Association other than London Branch that wish to attend this function please contact a London Member and they will add you to the list. Freddy was/is a good guy. I remember Norway in 85 and we were taking on the 4th Marines as the enemy force. A bunch of Black marines looked at Freddy and asked him where he was from. He said Canada. The Marine asked if Freddy was originally from Canada and Freddy looked right at him and said " S@*t boy...we ain't all from Mississippi" The look on that Marines face was priceless. Peace Dave

Ha, Ha, i remember that Davie, that was a riot! Did you see Freddies method of replacing a faulty Lantern that year? i just remembered it, first, if Lantern does not light and your hands are cold, you are tired and miserable, KICK the damn thing into the trees, box up the pieces and send pte. to CQ to get knew Lantern, while Sgt. goes to get a beer.

I dont remember the lantern but I am not shocked. I remember him making me bury field phone line in the snow and then making me retrieve it at the end of the week after it froze into the ground. I would have gladly gone and replaced the lantern that day.
