As a new member I would like to introduce myself, I am Jim Purdy, served with 1 RCR from 86-91. I left the Batallion just prior to the move to Petawawa, my last position was as Coy Sigs NCO with Dukes Coy, but the majority of my time was spent with Charles Coy prior to Cyprus 89-90. The recent events in Afghanistan and the losses suffered by 1 RCR to date , including some friends had made me a little homesick, I found this Message board the other day and have now had a chance to read some of the topics and comments. I am pleased to see some old comrades and friends , wish there were more. For those of you who remember me a brief synopsis of my life since the Batallion. In 91 I VR'd to return to B.C, right back to the bush which I missed considerably, I ended up marrying my child hood sweetheart and moved to Vancouver where I joined a Reserve Unit, The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. I have worked full time Class B as a reservist since 93, everything from CQ/RQ to various positions within 39 CBG HQ. I am currently employed as G1 Svcs 2. My wife and I have 2 sons, 5 and 2, and as often as possible you will find me casting a Fly on the many Lakes and Rivers out here in Gods Country. My thanks to the RCR Association for providing this forum. PRO PATRIA.

Good Morning, Jim.  Welcome to the site.  Drop by my security site and say hello to a member from the 70's.  I work at False Creek Harbour Authority just down the road from the Seaforth Armouries.  I did security on Capt. Trevor Greens's houseboat so I saw and talked to him regularly on Thursday nights.  Coffee is always on.  Ask the staff for Cpl. David Ward.  I split between afternoon and graveyard shift.  Do you wish to join the B.C. Mainland RCR Association?

Terry , did you go through the ISCC run in the Bn prior to the Cyprus tour in 89-90. If so, that is where we would know each other from.
