A request from a comrad
« on: January 10, 2007, 07:33:28 PM »

I know that at a time of sadness and pain that is the norm after a death that this might sound insensitive but if others are like myself or have the same problem as I do it has meaning.

Even though I was in both the 1 RCR and 2 RCR for more then 13 years I have a very hard time with names. People came in and out of our lives so often that this may have been a self protection mode, “you know don’t get too close, that way you won’t miss them when they are gone thing.”

This trait which I adopted while in the Army seems to have followed me into my retirement but to my saving grace, I do not forget many faces.

I would like to request that when ever it is possible that a picture of our departed comrades also be posted so that I and those like me can also mourn the passing of friends and give our condolences to their families.

PS: A picture of the departed when they were actually serving would be the best if at all possible.

Hey , great idea Ken, i too have problems with faces, sometimes. with me it seems to be more of some kind of brain warp ,or time warp. , but a pic would likely help a lot of us. But it may not always be possible.. ranrad

Way to go ranrad and young Ken.Ithink the idea is an excellent one. Although I would not know anyone now because practilly all of my guys are long gone. However, for th4e newer members  it sure might help.  Don't worry Ken about names. I have had the same proble since I retired 20 years ago. At the point of retirement I had abusiness list of clients in excess of 5,000 people and vcould remember most of them too. It doen not take long to lose this knack once you become disassociated with them, so don't feel bad. Regards. Georg.

Hi Hugh:  Was Jim Meaney with the 2nd Battalion in Fort York?  I do not remember him as being with the 1 RCR 62-65 C Pro C in Fort York.  I remember Sgt Monty Lowther, Lcpl Frank Barill and Lcpl Pat Patterson with 1 RCR.  There was another blonde haired meathead whose name escapes me at the moment.  All the best, RT
