Hmmm, well ,i never saw this from the air... i once had the pleasure of closing down the main kitchen there, in 74-75 due to filth... the Greek  chefs on staff were absolutely disgusted with me, the nerve of me and the Royals for removing the grease and gunge... took the guys heavy duty grinders to get most of it off...and they wondered why they had cockroahes... and amazingly ,the kitchen was actually ultra modern for its time, stainless steel everything.. fairly easy to keep clean..if cleaning is done....the comlex as well had two types of cockroaches, the standard German cockroach, and the WO & Sgts Mess had Oriental cockroahes...some will recall them.. could almost carry your plate away.. lol lol ranrad

You talkin about the kitchen? It got that bad? Geez, honest to God it was modern for its time in the mid 70's.. many reataurants, hotels in Canada did not have that kind of setup at the time. well, the civvy cooks were not happy with me for having their filth and grease removed.. dang it was filthy...ranrad

When we replaced the stoves and ovens in the summer of 85 you could skate on the grease on the tile flood behind and under the old ones

Hmmm, as i recall,  the reason they were so upset with me was i had injured their pride, and all i could see was they were proud of the grease build up.Up high and between stoves etc it was so hard it had to be removed with chisel andhammer and then heavy duty grinders, with a strong pioneer or engineer using all their arm strength to buck the machine jumping. I did not apologize to the Greek cooks, it was filthy and a fire hazard to boot.Looks like they just went back to their ways.ranrad
