I attended the Town of Sutton Remebrance Day ceremony yesterday and while I am talking to some of the troops from CFB Borden one of them asks me if I remember his Father as I was in 1 RCR at the same time as his Dad was. Turns out his Dad is EJ Burke. The son tells me his Dad was the guy who drove the carrier over the car during that snowstorm that hit us in December of 77. Remember that guys? Anyway I had a good chuckle about that and it certainly is a small world.

I was with the police that weekend, driving them around in the old 5/4's. I went up one street, well it looked like a street, just a wide open soace, I hit something that I could not see, then bounced over something else, the coppers in the back were wide eyed about whta I knew not. Then the guy in the front with me says we have driven over the median a couple of times and I should stay on my side of the road as it was scaring those in the back. So, I drove over the median again. I explained to them that they wold look back and laugh at this some day. They didnt believe me. I told them it was true cuz my Sn NCO's always told us that. They still didnt believe me! Ha! Too funny. What a weekend! When I heard about EJ and the car I howled.

Hi Mike & Jerry

That was the year I posted back from CFCOS Chilliwack to 1 RCR, B Coy and I rented a place in Berkshire Village. The driveway to the house was on a slope. As I got up that morning my Van 350 cc was out in the street and there was ice everywhere. Later on that day it started to snow and snow. I was lucky that I had the Van with 17 inch wheels and a posi-tract on it because that's how I made it home. Boy the streets were full of snow and the accident happened next day (Corvette ran over). To keep in mind I just got back from sunny BC and I wasn't used to snow that tickled your family jewels when you walked around in it. The last time I saw snow that deep was in Earlton 1st time 69.
