I served with 1 RCR from 72-75 in London, Ontario. I've been reading the posts and looking at the photos and like many, the memories keep coming back like they were yesterday. I still feel like I'm part of the regiment. I was posted to B Coy, following basic training in Cornwallis, and at the time I understand we were the first group of recruits to be trained by the Battalion in London as opposed to Gagetown in some years. I was with B Coy, Anti-tank platoon, Corps of Drums, and Sigs platoon in Cyprus, 74-75. I think Colonel Norman was the CO and B.C. Robinson was the RSM. They were some of the best times with the best people I've ever known. I'm in year 32 with the Toronto Police at this time, but always think of my days with the people in London. Some of the people I knew then were Gerry Robertson, Wayne Sadler, Bill Trueman, Lance Shelton, Lloyd Mills, Brian McLean, Larry King, and DAB MacDonald, to name a few.
This is supposed to be an introduction so I guess I've gone on long enough! Hope to keep in touch with fellow members.

Hi Jerry, Great to hear from you. I do remember those names and faces. Do you remember Stan Stamplekoski? I haven't seen his name on here and was wondering about him. I'll never forget the family picnic on the base the anti-tank platoon had. I was invited back to Stan's house and when I climbed into the car to go, DAB MacDonald was almost on the ground, he was laughing so hard! Well I made it to Stans house....but thats a story for another day lol! (I'm laughing now just thinking about it!)
Anyway I'll talk to you soon. John

I was a driver for the Med Section in Cyprus. I got out in 81 and joined the Calgary Police and recently retired. I find it interesting to learn of old soldiers who went into police forces throughout Canada.

Hi John: Finally found someone from 7238 in Cornwallis and 7301 in Wosley (?)Barracks. We went through Cornwallis and Battalion training together. I was in B Coy with Sgt Hennick. Jerry Robertson and I graduated into Battalion confined to barracks. I remember you, Jerry, Dave Romaine, Bernie Long, Bob Poitras, Bob Besner, Larry King, Larry Macleod, Wayne Sadler,Lance Shelton, Maj. Bob Thompson, Lt. (promoted to Capt in Cyprus) Berthume, WO Lewis, Sgts Hennick, Capstick and Gallant. We were in the Jr. Ranks Mess when you told us you were joining the Toronto Met Police Force. Good to hear you did okay. I'm 17 yrs sober and belong to Commissionaires- British Columbia. If you have any old pictures of both graduations could I get them, my old photos and gear were stolen. Thanks it's been great to hear from someone from my old platoon.

Greetings all. Great to hear from the 74 Cyprus gang. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since those day, however like you, I often think of the great people/times back then. You guys might want to take in the re-union and 125th celebrations in Kingston next year (Aug 08) and re-live some of those early 70s in London over a few cool ones........
Cheers all...Eli (the wedge) Aucoin.

John Ed Loveless let me know you had made a post on this site. Took me a while to go through all the past posts to find this one. Glad to hear that you are doing well and still a cop in TO. We did have some good times long long long ago. The memories are fun to look back on. I am trying to make arrangements to go to the reunion in Kingston this summer. Ed Loveless and I are planning the trip from Nova Scotia. If all goes well maybe we will see you there. BJ (AKA Rusty) MacLean
