RCR bound recruits, 1978

This is a pic of the section I was in during basic trg in Cornwallis. Taken during range week fall of 78.

Two missing from this pic. Myself & John Beckerleg. It must of been taken the morning after the night map march. Both John & myself suffered eye injuries & were sent to the MIR where we received eye patches.
At this point there was 17 of us left out of 30 that started. A few of these people spent many years within the Regiment. A few also remustered later on.
I can remember about 2/3 of the names.

ranrad: A few of us spent a few nights behind bars in Cornwallis. Hell it was the 8th week before CB was lifted allowing us to hit the Green & Gold. And than that lead to a little more cell time. Grin Grin
1/2 of the platoon was destined to go to London for TQ3. We started with 60 personal in two sections & if my memory serves me correctly, 28 of us proceeded to London for TQ3.

Looks like Randy Goguen front row left and Ernie Mackinnon Front row right. the guy Front row center is sure familiar. Front row second from the right looks like Jim Cotnam, and rear row second and fourth from the right look familiar too.

Gary: Correct on Randy Goguen & Jim Cotnam. Wrong on Ernie.
Look closer. Rear row shows a future 1 RCR, RSM & then BSM. Also a future(after time with 1 & 3 RCR) CWO after remuster to cook.

The pic looks like B Coy 1 RCR in 1978/1979 and the guy in the middle without gloves is Capt Mitchell.
