I had one of us at the recruiting centre but it was too dark to really see. This one got me a little misty when I pulled it out.

Well, we got to take the good with a bad, I guess. At least you have a picture to remember him by. Hopefully, some of his friends will see it and have a good thought for him. Through our friends and loved ones memories, we shall never die!

We where in Petawawa in 1983 Summer exercise
I was section 2 i/c  Forming up for a parade in front of
the mess tent and we are all beat, andy sit's on the table right in
the middle of a cherry pie  Shocked in his last pair of clean combat pants  Embarrassed Grin Grin Grin

The scramble that ensued to get a clean pair of pants on him was a hoot  Grin Grin
Hung over with cherry pie on the seat of your pants for a battalion muster parade

Thats the way I like to remember him  Cool Cool
Nice guy

Thanks for shareing

Having gone thru the whole recruiting process, basic training, battle school and battalion experience, I'm proud to say Andy was a friend. We were all dismayed when he didn't show for role call the morning we were leaving for Cyprus.

Mike, I remember you as well. You were a senior NCO, so we weren't in the same league.

Some of you guys were larger than life to us troops. I've seen Grant Gervais on here somewhere, Dab McDonald, BJ all the guys we used to look up to. McIasaac was my WO for a while, Freddy White our CSM. Irvine was our Warrant in Battle school, geez...those were the days. Where did the years go.

Which Irvine was it John?

Bernie put me through TQ3 , good lord, after one incident with a GPMG as we advanced to contact across the plains of borden... I woke up a couple of times with nightmares of him yelling at me, YOU DON'T KNOW YOUIR DRILLS, god damn it... followed by a barrage of choice , but true, criticisms. Needless to say, I sure as hell picked up on the drills quick enough!!! He made damn sure of that.  Dude was a hard man, yet fair. And speaking of fair, in some distorted, warped manner,  Wink he set a standard within me that would prove very benificial to my subsequent career.

Anybody got a picture of Bernie?

If I remember, it was Bernie but he didn't much let us call him by his first name...picture? didn't Bernie and Reggie look almost alike.

I remember at our grad party in Pet he advised us we must all dance with his wife, as "she's protocol!"

I've got one of him and Lt Reagan in course photo at battle school. I'll scan it tonight.

Yes, they looked very similiar. Reg was partial to a maroon beret and the airborne regiment when I was serving. Run into bernie later on advanced mortars, he was an instructor. He looked at me, the master corporal stripes on my arm, then said, I remember you! Oh man, I thought i was F'd, three years in and just promoted, yep, I had the distict feeling he was not into the forces new promotion format... Anyhow, I was in Gagetown on an advance course without the benefit of a basic moratarman course. Guess who checks me out prior to the course on my mortar drills? Bernie. I was freaking... but, in fine Royal tradition, sucked back and focused on the task at hand.... and still screwed up! sheeeeet! Shook the mortar twice on the misfire drill....  I thought he was gonna rtu right then and there... snicker. BUt he didn't.

Post the picture, mon ami. Be good to see the old boy's face again after all these years.

Even if it gives me a nightmare tonight! Bwahahahahaaaa
