Anyone that didn.t get a "Year OF The Veteran Pin", and would like to acquire one , the RCR kit shop had a couple of dozen left as of two weeks ago . The cost is $2.00 , plus tax and postage . Saw some sad news while on another military site . A member was attending Rememberance Day services in Wycogomah NS , and there was a for sale sign on the Legion bldg beside the cenotaph . Some real good news , the city of Surrey BC , has said no more property taxes on Legion establishments . Hope this snowballs across the country , because there are a lot of Legions just hanging on . A friend of mine , would like to know if anyone has a photo of Northwest Canada platoon 1960 , as he would like to get a copy of it . Several xRoyals plus myself , have been wondering where in the world is old RAGS-A-Muffin Doherty . I know he is living in London and belongs to the association . Rags ! if you see this , come on board and tell a few lies and spread a few rumours ." Your presence is conspicuous by your absence" "PRO PATRIA"

Earl, Raggs spend a lot of his time in Ireland, (I think hes running guns for the IRA) ha ha. He is in London and can be found at the Irish pub on Wharncliffe Rd. Ref : the tax break I believe thats only for the upcoming year. I intend to ask the city of London to do likewise for all the Legions in the city., and you are right some are just haning on. PS I will call Raggs and pass on your comments Ron

Hi Earl..havent seen Rags for about 2 years, but he is alive and well and living in London. He lives next door to Billy Pye, his old hockey teamate, they are both retired after working for Purolator courier. Last time I talked to him he was saying he was going touring in a motor home , I believe with GD no neck Mclean who lives in Forest Ont..Pro Patria..If you see any pictures of the RCR colour party you might spot Rags, along with Karl Baumgarten

Thanks for the the comeback Ron and Rick . Thought i might meet up with Rags, at the Scotian Isles when i was in London a month ago . Great to meet all the former members of 1 RCR at the above establishment , plus those who attended the reception at the RCR museum the following evening . Hummer McNiel was an encyclopedia of regimental info also . I guess the greatest moment was meeting , Bob Truax, my basic training Sgt after 44 years . I still can hear Sgt Truax yelling Donaldson ! you are hunched over like a dog trying to make love to a football , but that was milder version of what was said . Getting back to Rags , i read in the guestbook about 4 years ago where Dave Boyd headed out from Barrie , made a detour over to Coboconk , picked up Suds Sudsbury , and then proceeded to make a frontal attack on the residence of old Rags . I bet the lyrics to "Wasn't That A Party" rang through their heads for many days after On a more sombre note , it was sad to hear of the accident that took the life of Pte. Braun Woodfield of 2 RCR , only a weeks before his return to Canada for Christmas . The passing of Charles Laking of Toronto on Saturday, at the young age of 106 leaves only 4 WW 1 Canadian veterans to answer roll call . How sad, but time takes its toll . "PRO PATRIA"
