According to Col .Strome Galloways book Ortona, there were only 34 survivors of the ORIGINAL INVASION REGIMENT of July 10/43 still surviving and serving with the regiment as at the middle of Dec. / 1944. I am one of those 34. I am still very healthy am 83 years old, and due to service I have had both knees replaced along with one hip. My wife and I still travel a lot and have been married for 58 HAPPY YEARS. mY NAME IS (Pvt) George F. Burrows of Windsor, Ont.. I would like to know from anyone in the regiment , either currently or retired etc. if there are any other of the original 34 still living. If so please send memo to RCRGEOMAR@sYMPATICO.CA. .
If anyone wants info of my era, please contact. would be pleasewd to reply. Iam a member of THE WINDSOR RCR. CHAPTER. Sincerely , George Burrows

Dear George, I was a serving member of the Regiment from 1982 untill 1990 at which time i remustered to an aircraft trade. I always remain proud of my time in the regiment and it's accomplishments. I am writing to you because i would like to personnally say thank you sir, for your sacrifices and dedication to our fine country. I wish to say thank you for your part in building a regiment that is strong and proud for others to serve in. The fact that i feel the need to hold my head high and stand straight whenever i talk about the RCR is directly attributted to the men like yourself, whom came before me and developed the pride in which i share. Thank you George, and all others of your era! I promise to always do my part to uphold your legacies. Thank you Sir, Tim McCully (1 RCR retrd.)

Hi George and thanks Tim for that well worded thank you. I am not an RCR, i actually joined the RCAF, but trained with RCR in Germany, and was posted to 1 RCR in London from 74 to 77, and as i say in my entry here i am a converted RCR, if that is possibel. And thanks to your legacy i had the ppleasure of serving with the First and Finest , and learned over my years with them that they all live up to that high standard every day of their lives.. even after serving their regular time of career. We cannot thhank you "orignators enough, and for sure we cannot thank and appreciate all WW2 and other wars veterans , and too, today our fine men and women who serve in the highest of traditions and dedication. I hope you can find some of your old buddies and maybe get together when you can. And of course the internet now helps with that as well. Again ,thanks to both of you ,George and Tim for your dedication and nice , appropriate words here. ranrad

Thanks to all those replys. It is nice to be known and appreciated. Like each of,I AM A VERY PROUD RCR OF WW 2. We went through HELL for 21 months and were THE LONGEST FIGHTERS OF THE ENTIRE WAR. If you were not in the FIRST DIV. - YOU CANNOT SAY THAT. George
