I remember Bruce taking me out for OJT on the 3/4 ton truck and the jeep on the sand dunes in Ipperwash in 1962.  He taught me all about bull low and 4 wheel drive with the pedal to the metal.
Fast forward to 1972 and Bruce was enthusiastically catching arctic char on King William Island when we were on Northern Quest, searching for relics of the Franklin expedition.
The next bright memory of Bruce is when he was mess manager of the officers mess at Wolseley Barracks in 1978.  It must have been an interesting experience for the officers to have Bruce as mess manager!
Way up north in Yellowknife in 1984 we were PMQ neighbours and my furniture had not arrived yet.  Bruce and Carol loaned me basic survival furniture and kitchen utensils so I could move in early as the kid's dog had not yet died and the local hotel was not too friendly to pets.
Bruce was on the arctic ranger staff and he loved to go native when he went on training exercises with the Rangers.  He had a full set of caribou hide winter clothes which were untanned (not issued by DND).  He stored these in his freezer at home in between exercises as untanned 'bou hides stink to high heaven if stored above freezing.
We have lost a comrade and an outdoorsman who lived life to the full.  Condolances to Carol and the family.  RT and Marlene Walsh

BRUCE MARTIN.  Have a lot of excellent memories of Bruce here in London, Germany, Cyprus, a great soldier and trusted friend.  Bruce, W.T. Smith, (watertrailer) and I shared the same quarters while in Cyprus, 1970.  Wally Turple, god bless his sole, was our Quarter Master keeping all of us in line and what a task it was.  God speed Bruce, Pro Patria.  Condolences to Carol and family.  Ernie & Yvonne Matchett.

I am saddened to hear of Bruce's passing.

I first met Bruce in 1977 when I was a youg officer and needed "schooling"; he was the Manager of the Officers Mess in London as RT mentions. He could really make Happy Hour go on for several days.

I served with him in 3RCR Germany and NRHQ Yellowknife. When I arrived at NRHQ in Yellowknife October 1982 in a blinding snowstorm, Bruce Martin was there to welcome me North of 60 and offer me a much needed drink.....I think it was a horrible mix called Ravens Blood! I had some great times in the Arctic with Bruce. He was a great soldier and fine NCO.

My condolences to Carol and his family.

I, also, am saddened by Bruce's untimely passing.

Bruce and I soldiered together in the 2RCR Assault Pioneer Platoon circa 1967-68, and a happier band of warriors you've seldom seen.  Unfortunately, too many of that august group have responded to the final roll call.  My sincere condolences go out to Bruce's family.  Pro Patria.
