First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Hal Prittie and I am NOT a jumper. I was a member of the 1st Bn. RCR in January/February 1952 and was on serial 122 with my fellow Royals, was recoursed to 123 with a whole bunch of “Pats” and ultimately “washed out” due to severe bronchitis contracted in Rivers, MB. At present time, I am trying to convince VAC that I am entitled to some form of compensation for this problem, which has plagued me most of my adult life.

They (VAC) have been helpful in trying to assist me to authenticate my claim. They have suggested that if I can get someone who was on either serial 122 or 123 and who remembers me to write a short letter stating the above facts as they remember them, it will help my claim a lot.

I realize that I am asking a lot to try and find someone of about my age (72) who doesn’t suffer from “Seniors Moments” to try and remember a skinny 17 year old. If it will help, I have a picture of myself with uniform on and with RC Sigs flashes. After returning from Rivers and being returned to the 3rd Bn., because i was not a qualified jumper, I was fortunate to get transferred to the Sigs, where I finished my hitch serving in Canada and Germany.

If you have any thoughts or information that might help me, I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks for reading my long e-mail, I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Hal Prittie (SK 8890)
