 The passing of SGT Ernest Alvia ("Smokey") Smith, VC; CM; CD; on Aug 03, 2005 has closed the book on Canadian Victoria Cross winners forever . Smokey was my kind of person, not afraid to say what he thought . Smokey was also one of the lucky ones, living a long life . His heroes were the ones who never made it back. Rest in peace Smokey, you certainly deserve it.
