The younger years..
I signed on the dotted line on the 4th of Febuary 1964 at 12 PD in St.John's Newfoundland. Went through The RCR Depot (North West Canada Platoon)for 6 months, than posted to "A" Coy 2 RCR London, Ontario. Posted to "B" Coy Fort York Germany in November 1965 until November 1968 when I was posted back to 1 RCR London Ontario. Went to Cyprus in March 1970 and back to London in October 1970. Did my jump course in Rivers in March 1965 and I may add, our course was the first to do the conversion from the 119 to the C 130. Some of the major Ex's were in Alaska 65, Jamacia, Chuchill Manitoba and Norway or Demark (memory not the best) in support to the Cdn Guards who were there on ex. Took my release in September 1973 with the rank of Sergeant (and kicking my butt ever since) Did 20 years with the 2 Bn The Royal Newfoundland Regiment reserves, retired with the rank of CWO. Don , ranrad here, i never knew you as it seems you left the RCR in 73, and i was posted to them in 74, and i apologize for not seeing your entry here sooner. You say you have "kicked your butt" ever since , but you have some solace in having gone from one fine Regiment, to another, that being the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, and i amsure you were in attendance at Memorials thjis past Jul;y 1st to the great dedicaton and scrifice by that Regiment at Battle of Somme. And I must add you should be congratulated and thanked for your Duty and dedication over the years. Well done! ranrad
