Yes it's me Bill Munroe. Cyprus '84-85 with Dukes. Pete Murphy and I were posted in from 3-CDO that summer. Willard was the best Platoon Warrant I ever served under in the RCR. Wished I'd known him when he was still in the Airborne. Good man. He ran the show. We hardly ever saw the Platoon commander. LOL Wink

Willard was in my Coy B Coy as a Sgt in 1982. I tried to save his ass in 88/89 when he got into an arguement with the Dukes Coy Comd.

Willard, as said many times...is a great man. My mom split from my step dad just after I enlisted, so I went thru a name change just after I got to the battalion. I got myself in poop a few times early on and after my surname changed and I stepped on my jimmy...Willard would say, "Bergen....Is Finlay rearing his ugly F$#$%$^ head again?"

Then there was the time I almost knocked him out digging a trench with him....He was in the hole, I was bringing logs for the OHP....I swung the log, Willard stood up straight.....log, willards head....he got up and walked away..didn't say a word to me....

Wow! Hard to believe, but i actually remember that John, when you had your name changed (and the wife says i have a bad memory (- selective maybe?). We use to say you were 'Fred' Finlay's little brother LOL

When I knew Willard back in 1964-65 Fort York Germany he used to chum around with a coloured chap called Brooks.  Those two were joined at the hips and you never stopped laughing when they were around.  Willard used to say "I been wandering arounding so long I'm wondering why I'm wandering".  Good guy, and I hope he is doing well.

My story of Willard was when I was posted to 2CDO in 1976 when I landed in his sec. and we went to Camp Dundurn and I bugged him to let me carry the M72 because we had a live fire ex. at the end , after 3 days we got to the point were we can fire the weapon, he looks at me and says FIRE ! well I had the sights all screwed up and the rocket shot  out at a angle like a missile ! Willard looks at me and with a classic actor face he says " Way to go Honest John ! "    Pro ! Patria !
