12:15 AM:
Amy Ferguson is ambling around the kitchen of her new town house. She was collecting trash that she’d forgotten to take out the night before. She stumbled out the front door and walked to the end of her driveway. Something shattered her thoughts as it came crashing out the window of the parallel house. She cautiously crossed the street and headed towards the object. Blood was pooling at the end of the driveway.
Amy Ferguson: “Hello? Is someone there…? Oh MY GOD!”
____________________________________________________________________- Cut to 1st commercial break

Nick Stokes: “So you are saying that the body fell out of that home?”
Amy Ferguson: “Yes.”
Nick Stokes: “How well did you know her?”
Amy Ferguson: “Not very. Just knew her parents. Andy and Jane Miller. They were away for the weekend… That was Amelia. 18 I think. I was taking the trash out. (Flash to past)Sees body fall.(Resume to present) Now I’m forever scarred by that image…” Amy trails off slowly and begins to cry.

Nick follows Gil, Catherine and Warrick inside the two story town house. As they make their way up the stairs Warrick speaks.
Warrick Brown: “I talked to the neighbor at the end unit. Since there are houses on both sides of the street, any sound resonates causing an echo… Ms. Cruz says her windows were open. She heard the crash. But at this point it looks like we’ve only got one eye witness…”
Gil Grissom: Does the eyewitness have an alibi?”
Nick Stokes: “Yeah. Her security system told us that she went out at 12:16PM and came back in at 12:18PM.”
They reached Amelia Miller’s room. They tried to open the door but it was locked. They all look at each other. Classic suicide sign… They finally pried the door open. Catherine walks in first. Warrick walks over to the window.
Warrick Brown: “Hmmm.  No glass on the inside. (Flash to Amy standing in front of the window. Resume to present) No way that this was broken from the outside. Okay we know one thing. This is a murder or suicide. No accident.”
Catherine Willows:  “Gil I collected a DNA sample from our vic. Oh and I collected a used band-aid in the kitchen trash can.”
Warrick Brown: “ There’s a phone number recently dialed on Amelia’s cell. 26 times in the last week. I’ll find out who it's registered to.”

Back at the lab Greg compared DNA vic with DNA Band-aid and DNA Amy Ferguson. Jim walks in.
Greg Sanders: “I got your results.” Gil walks in too.
Gil Grissom: “Good. What are they?”
Greg Sanders: ”DNA from the used band-aid in the Miller home matches the Amy Ferguson’s DNA.”
Gil Grissom to Jim Brass: “I thought Nick said she had an alibi?”
Jim Brass: “Until now.”
____________________________________________________________________- Cut to 2nd  commercial break

Nick and Gil go to Amy Ferguson’s home to ask some questions.
Nick Stokes: “You said that you didn’t know Amelia Miller.”
Amy Ferguson: “I said not very well.”
Nick Stokes: “ Why was your DNA found on a used band-aid from the Miller home?”
Amy Ferguson: “I came over for lunch two days ago. Raspberry Rhubarb pie. Delicious. Amelia made it herself… I took care of her cat for a day, so when I refused to accept money for the cat sitting, she invited me for lunch. My dog bit my finger five days ago and I needed to change the band-aid.”
Nick Stokes: “Got another alibi?”
Amy Ferguson: “There are three pieces left, check if you want.”
Gil Grissom: “We will.”

The next day Catherine goes back to Amelia Miller’s room to re-examine the crime scene. She sits on the bed in the corner, then wanders over to the window. She thinks in deep thought…
Warrick Brown: “Cath?” She jumps.
Catherine Willows: “Oh Warrick it’s you. How’d you get in?”
Warrick Brown: “Through the back door. It was open. Picked up prints going out, not coming in. You know everyone thinks suicide.” (Flash past: Amelia running towards the window. Resume to present.)
Catherine Willows: “Not everyone.”
Warrick Brown: “And the reasonable doubt is?”
Catherine Willows: “I read all her e-mails, journals, and reviewed her school work. I know what depression is Warrick, and this isn’t it!”
Warrick Brown: “Okay but who then? Ferguson?”
Catherine Willows: “I don’t think so. Outside job. Literally.”

Cut to morgue.
Al Robbins: “Interesting.”
Gil  Grissom: “What?”
Al Robbins: “ Well, multiple cuts, scrapes, and bruising are common for falling through glass. But it didn’t kill her.”
Gil Grissom: “If the fall didn’t kill her then what did?”
Al Robbins: “Asphyxia. Looks like marks on her neck where a hand was.”
Gil Grissom: “So as she jumped, she held her neck and during the fall it caused strangulation?” (Flash to Amelia holding her neck tightly as she crashed through the window. Resume to present)
Al Robbins: “But, the angle in which it was made would indicate that someone from behind her strangled her. I also found a deep cut that looks like it was maybe made by a meat cleaver, although a sharp shard of glass could’ve punctured her heart during the fall.”
Gil Grissom: “So this went from suspected suicide to confirmed murder.”
Al Robbins: “I couldn’t have better stated that if I tried…”

Cut to break room. Catherine and Warrick sit alone.
Warrick Brown: “I followed up on the phone number that Amelia Miller called 26 times. It’s registered to:”
Kelly Carrie 9837 Loblolly Lane
Las Vegas, NV 00002
Catherine Willows: “Okay what do you say we head over there right now and find out her connection to our vic.”
Warrick Brown: “Agreed.”

Cut to Carrie Residence:
Anne Carrie: “Hello. May I help you?”
Catherine Willows: “Vegas Crime Lab. I’m Catherine Willows, this is my partner Warrick Brown. May we come in?”
Anne Carrie: “Certainly.”
They all come into the Carrie  living room. Anne calls to her daughter and husband.
Anne Carrie: “Kelly, Joe! Come here please!”
Catherine Willows to Kelly Carrie: “How well do you know Amelia Miller?”
Kelly Carrie: “She’s my best friend. Why? OMG! Is she okay?”
Catherine Willows: “Well Amelia had an accident…” Warrick cuts her off.
Warrick Brown: “We think someone murdered her and threw her body through her own bedroom window.” Kelly breaks into tears. She sniffles some more and Catherine continues.
Catherine Willows: “I know this might be hard but do you know anyone who might have done this to Amelia?” Kelly stops and thinks long and hard.
Kelly Carrie: “Jeremy. Jeremy Lesher. 8341 Moopie Way. He used to date Amelia…”
Catherine Willows: “Thank you. Do you know anything else that might help?” Kelly’s eyes shift uncomfortably.
Kelly Carrie: “No.”
Catherine Willows: “ Well if you do think of anything here’s my cell phone number.”

Cut to the Lesher residence.
Catherine Willows: “Mr. Lesher?”
Ernie Lesher: “No, why is he in trouble?”
Warrick Brown: “No. Not yet. Vegas Crime Lab. I’m Warrick Brown and this is my partner Catherine Willows.”
Catherine Willows: “Mind if we look around your house? Also can we get an object with his prints on it?”
Ernie Lesher: “Sure. Take his CD player. I’m always happy to help out.”
Warrick Brown: “I’m glad because we don’t get that a lot.”

Catherine and Warrick proceed to go into the kitchen. They examine a box with a combination key pad on it.
Catherine Willows: “What do keep in there?”
Ernie Lesher: “Knives. Big ones. I thought it was safer you know…”
Warrick Brown: “Why? Has Jeremy ever gotten a hold of them before?” Ernie Lesher pauses.
Ernie Lesher: “Well, there was one time when I found a knife in Jeremy’s back pack before he went to school. He insisted that his friend Jake had planted it there as a joke. I wasn’t laughing! Jake had been over the night before to do homework with Jeremy. I grounded Jeremy and Jake never came over again!”
Warrick Brown: “Where’s Jake now?”
Ernie Lesher: “Moved away six months ago.” Catherine’s phone rings.
Catherine Willows: “Please excuse me.” She walks back to the door way. “Catherine Willows speaking. Who is this?”
Kelly Carrie: “Kelly Carrie. I need to tell you and mister Brown something I remembered. Please come back to my house.”
Catherine Willows: “So you’re feeling more courageous. I thought you would. We’ll be right over.”
Kelly Carrie: “Thanks. Bye.”

____________________________________________________________________- Cut to 3rd  commercial break

In the Carrie’s living room Catherine and Warrick sit back down.
Catherine Willows: “So what’d you remember?”
Kelly Carrie: “Okay. You know how Jeremy and Amelia were dating? Well it was a nasty break up. After they went their separate ways, Amelia thought it would be funny so start rumors about Jeremy. Amelia was really popular, and well, Jeremy isn’t.”
Warrick Brown: “What kind of rumors?”
Kelly Carrie: “The nasty ones. Hard to ever gain back your self esteem. At first it was pretty harmless. But then it was getting meaner and meaner. Lots of bribes and kickbacks. Yet Jeremy remained calm. I knew he would crack. The only thing he ever did was leave a nasty note in her locker. Oh and two weeks after they broke up he called her twice and bothered her.” (She fades off in deep thought)
Catherine Willows: “Anything else?”
Kelly Carrie: “Okay, there was. The other night my parents had him and his father over right after school. We were discussing teachers, grades, school, you know stuff like that. Jeremy said he needed to get a drink and my mom asked me to accompany him to the kitchen. He told be to wait outside, he could manage. So I foolishly did. He went inside with his back pack on. When he came back out he had something b-i-g in his back pack. I asked him about it but he ignored me.”
Catherine Willows: “Was it a knife?”
Kelly Carrie: “I don’t know maybe.”
Catherine Willows to Anne Carrie: “May we see your knife collection?”
Anne Carrie: “Sure.”
They all walk to the kitchen. Anne Carrie opens the door to the knife cabinet. She gasps.
Anne Carrie: “My meat cleaver is gone!”
Warrick Brown: “We’re going to need your prints Kelly and dust the cabinet for Jeremy’s prints. Just to clear you.”
Kelly Carrie: “Okay.”

Back at the lab after prints from the cabinet, Kelly and Jeremy were compared.
Greg Sanders to Catherine Willows and Warrick Brown: “Okay. Prints from the cabinet match Jeremy’s.”
Warrick Brown: “Proving that he was in there recently.”
Catherine Willows: “Without permission.”
Jim Brass walks in: “I got a warrant. And an interrogation. Go get him.”

Police officers go back to the Lesher residence. They storm it and find Jeremy sitting in his room. They bring him in for an interrogation. They search the attic and find a meat cleaver with Jeremy’s prints all over it.

Interrogation Room:
Catherine Willows: “I must admit, that was very clever.”
Jeremy Lesher eyes Catherine maliciously: “Yeah. I’d like to think so. It was easy. All I had to do was use a false pretext.” (Flash to past: Jeremy walking down a dark alley with Amelia Miller.
Amelia Miller: “So you wanted me to come here to hear you apologize? That’s sweet. That’s one of the reasons I loved you.” She smiles and holds Jeremy’s hand. They walk for a while. Then he suddenly grabs her from behind I an attempt to suffocate her. He kicks her and she kicks him back. He grabs the meat cleaver out of his bag and stabs her. He leaves the body in a dumpster and come back the next night. Resume to present.)
Jeremy Lesher: “But my plan had a problem. People would suspect me.” (Flash to past. Jeremy drives over to Amelia’s house. He runs towards the window and throws her body through. He locks the door behind him and leaves out the back door. Resume to present.)
Jeremy Lesher: “I think we can both agree. The best revenge for life is death.”
Catherine Willows coldly stares at him: “No, actually I don’t agree. For us CSIs, the best revenge for death is life.”
